Fundamentally, it's because he's appointing stupid people. Bush Sr., Clinton, Bush Jr., Obama, all utilized the agencies for their own political agenda, sure, and the other side Republican/Democrat disliked the choices the president made, but the last time we had such bad officers was the McCarthy era back in the 50's. He's making appointments that even Republicans don't like (though he isn't really a republican to begin with). Because of this, a ton of people have been resigning, heads of our military branches, agency directors, etc, and when you lose those people through abrupt change you lose all of the knowledge they have garnered over the years. So much of how the government works is based on having people who just know who to talk to to get things done, or know the process or stupid form ID you need to make something official. He's been shooting himself in the foot since day one, which at least most presidents try to avoid.



Bush took the U.S. into two wars after an event which redefined the global status quo on terrorism - the U.S. Congress voted 420-1 in the House and 98-0 in the Senate for the Afghanistan war, and a year later to invade Iraq with a supermajority. Bush cannot solely be blamed for that, his actions were very aligned with public sentiment at the time. What he did perhaps do poorly, is manage the next five years of the war. But I think there's a big difference between someone managing a difficult situation, and someone like Trump who is creating difficult situations - INTERNAL TO OUR COUNTRY NO LESS. People will never dislike Bush as much (and I think rightly so) because we can see how his actions were at least supposed to be for our benefit. I would give credit to Trump for the same thing - I genuinely believe Trump is doing his best, but I would also say he's so blinded by his own mythos that he thinks his shit don't stink.

What bothers me about the demagogue's supporters is that they are dangerous. The demagogue already encourages violence and he doesn't care how many people would die as a result. If he loses the election or is removed from office, his loyal supporters who treat him like he's god will not be happy about it. They are talking about a second civil war and they genuinely believe that will become a reality. In this day and age, martial law will put an end to that before it would even escalate to that point. People who loathe the demagogue never really have a conversation about a civil war, at least from what I've seen so far. This rhetoric about civil war is not something that should be ignored if people are willing to kill in the name of this so called President.

That's the thing. Trying to defend the indefensible is impossible unless you make something up. It doesn't even help when historians ranks him dead last, his approval rating never reached 50 according to Gallup Poll, told more than 15,000 lies, always acts like a complete buffoon, is lazy and most of his cabinet leaves, resigns, is fired or went to jail. Although I think that him being lazy is somewhat a good thing since he doesn't cause more damage than he already has.

How can anyone defend that without mentioning Obama or Clinton in their arguments? Why does the First Lady always look like she's being held hostage? You know something is completely wrong when The Onion and South Park doesn't want to make fun of him when he's doing it to himself already. Any comedian would just repeat what he said word for word and it's already funny with zero effort. Like what the actual fuck?

It's not even about Trump or what he did. There was never a chance he's getting removed from office. Would hurt REPs power. Acquitting him, however, hurts DEMs power. "Proves" the narrative that DEMs are just throwing around baseless accusations and can't be trusted.

Politicians are voting for their own power, not their conscience or America. Voting results are all the proof you need. Was a stupid idea to put Trump to trial in the first place.

I'm half surprised that Romney voted to convict. I'm not surprised the demagogue is trying to punish him or if Romney loses the next election for senator.

He's a senator for utah, he's not losing anything. He will be remembered well in history.

This argument doesn't work because George Bush won in 2000. Only time can tell what the impact will be, there really is no precedent within the US for whats happening now. Instead you must look at democracies that transitioned into authoritarian states and try to draw comparisons from that.

I wasn't following US politics in 2000 but it's clearly true now. I can only assume it wasn't as bad 20 years ago as it is now.

Andrew Yang proposed $1,000 per month, which is in addition to how much each person makes. That's not even in relation towards the virus.
