Master Jam Contest
Help welcome StarCraft into 2018!
Specifications
- All submissions are due March 1st, 2018, by 11:59:59PM PST.
- All maps will be judged by a handful of pre-determined judges based on a set criteria.
- Submissions must be made to the DLDB. You may send it to a Judge who may upload it to the DLDB for you.
- Judges can submit maps to the contest. Of course, they cannot score their own submissions and are ineligible for prizes.
- The maps submitted must adhere to the contest theme.
- There is no specification for an amount of players.
- Mapping teams are not allowed. This rule might be removed, pending the approval of the other judges if it is requested by enough participants.
- Maps started previous to the starting of this contest are not allowed.
- Only one map per participant may be submit in each contest.
- We will no longer accept maps after the deadline. This used to be a loose rule, no longer. Nobody has time for that.
- Yes, we accept maps the use EUDs/EPDs into this contest. They are officially supported by Blizzard and now a part of the base game.
Theme
The theme that each of the maps need to adhere to is...
Remastery !Take a classic and breathe new life into it! Maybe you found a diamond in the rough at some point? Refine it!
Your job is to take any map that has ever existed, and recreate your own version. All entries are required to have been made specifically for this contest, so any maps that are edits will be disqualified. You cannot directly copy the triggers from the original and terrain should be inspirational, but this can be bent at times. The map should be built from scratch.
If there is a specific author of the map, you should credit them. Of course, you can be the original author and submit a remake of the original.
A great example of a proper submission would be MiniMoose2707's Armored Core, which is actually a remake of a remake!

Judging Criteria
Gameplay: 10 points- Does the map hold player interest?
- Is the map too hard? Too easy?
- How is the game length? Too long? Or short?
Originality: 10 points- Are we playing more than a copy of the original?
- Did you shape the idea into something unique beyond that?
Aesthetics: 10 points- Does your terrain look good?
- How shiny is your map? How polished?
- Is there an overabundant use of text?
- Is your terrain blocky in places?
- Do you have proper grammar?
Completion: 10 points- Are there major bugs?
- Are there any string errors?
- Was the map actually complete?
This means that a score can go no higher than 40. In the event of a tie, we will choose which of the maps will be ranked higher than the other.

Question: Is map sketching allowed? (Convert image to terrain = image on minimap) In my case, the "Original Map" does not have this.

As long as we can draw similarities, your map will qualify. It really depends on if the original map just had a bunch of blank space and you made use of your space for example, that is good to do.

Due to the superior map I have crafted, other entrants would simply be wasting not only their own time and energy, but also that of the judges and audience. Of course, they are free to do so against my warning and I will not stop them, but they do so at their own peril of complete and utter embarrassment.

REMAKE OF ANY STARSHIP TROOPERS MAP FROM BACK IN THE DAY
Originally planned:
6 different player classes with their own unique weapons and special ability.
A shop with various items and gadgets to help fight the bugs.
Purchaseable weapon upgrades, hero upgrades, and orbital back up (sky rocket triggered by right clicking where you want em to fire on the minimap)
CPU Roughneck interaction (ordering them from A to B with mouse without them being given to the player)
30 levels with 3 bosses

10 unbalanced levels
interesting vhp system
interesting use of EUDs
All players have a shotgun
when you die the revive system is bugged so it doesnt work yet
Can rescue colonists and they'll run to the base and turn into roughnecks.
Its playable and its fun just messing around with the shooting mechanic (Right click to fire your weapon, hold position to reload)
Unfortunately it isnt finished. I will finish it eventually but I'm very busy right now.
