Hi SI, I want to make the switch from my modified StarEdit but the GUI is really holding me back. The classic trigger and trigger editor are really buggy. When you click on one of the fielfs like unit the window remains open after the click. This happens to anything with a drop-down box. Is it possible that this can be improved more like StarEdit? The other trigger editor is very clunky. The tree on the left side never work and when you add a nrw trigger half the time it isnt saved. when selecting tye layer drop down box from the top it would be amazing if it would open the terrain pallette window automatically. I would finally like to for the unit/sprite trees automatically close when switching between items.

Is the classic trigger editor a plugin? Is the slurce code available? Is it something I can help improve? I've done some coding before.

Edit: forgot to mention the the overlays don't always show up in the terrain palette seems random. Thank you!!-

EDIT2 how can i make a plugin for scmdraft? maybe i can improve the trig editor what programs / laungue

EDIT3 you also can't hit tab to switch between the tile size while in the terrain pallette. have to manually click between the boxes.

Try using TrigEditPlus, an alternative text trigger editor for SCMDraft2. Download the sdp file and put that inside Plugins folder of SCMDraft2. You can get the file from "Starcraft I Files" section of SEN.

can you make it so hitting Alt doesnt open up the file menu if I've been clicking in the drop down menus. I often go to select a sprite or something and then hit Alt+G, or Alt+F to bring up the grids, and it'll select the file menu instead, it didnt do this before.

I restricted the hotkeys to only work when the map window has focus because it was blocking undo / redo in the edit controls and stuff like that. I'll try to change that that some hotkeys are global and some are only usable when the map window has focus.

E: Maybe its a bit overkill, but I now added more graphics .... if you copy+paste a damaged building the brush shows the flames as well even before placing the building.

Hey SI, is it possible for the strings to become corrupted? I have a map where I have a Bring trigger of a particular unit but it isn't detecting it. When resetting unit settings to default it was detecting the unit. Have you ever heard of reports where strings were being associated with other units?

I haven't heard of anything since 0.9.0. If you are renaming the hidden subunits, then things may act weird if you set the parent unit's settings back to default.

EDIT: So it may of not been the strings. It could of been something with the player settings. We moved the trigger from P7 to P8 or Force1/2 and the unit started being detected. Very stange that it wouldn't work for the player who owned the units.

I updated to the latest version of SCM Draft yesterday and it won't open the map from the older version I used at home. After downgrading I am able to open the map without problem. Here is the dump file.

Also, would it be possible to add a scroll bar in the trigger window? Working with long unit names can make it difficult to see some of the triggers.

Just got an error about string corruption as well. Attached is the screenshot. This occurred after I reset the names of some triggers to default. - unused 0 - to Switch 6 for example using the reset button (getting a bunch of these errors now, is there anyway to fix this?)


EDIT700: Hopefully this is the last edit, I was able to open the file in 0.8 and save it as a new file. After re-saving it the issue doesn't appear to be happening anymore. Is this something I should be worried about happening again?

You can save the map under a new name (Save As !), then close it and reload it. That will repopulate the string reference table.

What version are you using where you are getting the errors? 0.9.0 or 0.8.0? And were you using text trigedit or classic?

I was using the release version 0.9.

I opened it in 0.8 and re-saved it.

I then opened it in release and it was working again.

I was using classic.

This can be replicated -

1. Create a new map
2. Open the switches panel with Classic Triggers
3. Rename a switch to TEST
4. Use the switch in a trigger (may or may not be needed)
5. Open switch panel
6. Select switch
7. Select Reset Name
8. Open trigger that called the switch
9. Close the trigger window
10. Error pops up

Any reason why with version 9.01 it doesn't prompt for the switch errors but when I open the map in 0.8 I get the error message?

EDIT: So, I was able to fix it. Thankfully I knew which switches were causing the problem. I opened the map in 0.8 and select the switches that I renamed to cause the issue. I reset them to their defaults (even know I have already done that). Then saved the map as another name. I can now open the map in both versions without the error message occurring. Hopefully it doesn't happen again.. that was scary. Spent a ton of time on this map! Just another random thing I noticed, the map that with corrupted strings was 58 kb and after doing the steps above it was 49 kb. That is a pretty big change just for correcting a few strings. I hope this info helps!

Thanks for the detailed steps - it 0.9.0 wasn't resetting the actual string reference when clearing the switch name, so if you renamed the same switch later on again it would dereference the string again even though it was then being used by something else.

I'll upload a fix in an hour or two - just need to finish committing all the changes I did over the weekend and run a quick test.

Why are you also using 0.8.0? I can't promise it doesn't have worse bugs.


E: Build is up. Also now has flames on the buildings in the brush when copy + pasting damaged buildings.

Can we get a display option to toggle building damage (similar to color cycling/animate unit death)? Any update on the issue I PM'd you about earlier?

Thank you sir. Nice job! I don't use 0.8. The person I am working on a map prefers 0.8 to edit the terrain and does the rest in 0.9. I appreciate your quick turn around!
