So out of frustration trying to navigate the current wiki with pages taking decades to load in some cases. I took it opon myself to make a solution.

I have by hand copied over about all of the content on the current wiki onto a new wikia, I believe the only thing missing is some unit based pages.

It took several days mostly out of frustration waiting for pages to load, but I feel it is now at a place where it should be ready to be shared.

It's possible that there might be a page here and there that did not make it, but if you find one let me know and I will move it over.

I have also gone over a majority of the pages trying to fix broken wiki links to pages that do exist as well as applying categories to a lot of pages.

Edit: if using mobile it is highly suggested that you use the "Request Desktop Version" for formatting to appear correctly.

I order you to forgive yourself!

You are really awesome! This is going to help so many people get into map making that would otherwise have given up just from the slow loading times.

Only if it's posted somewhere noticeable that people can easily access (aka not a subforum thread that requires SEN to load multiple pages to access LMAO).

Maybe moose can replace the existing Wiki link on the main site?

Sep 13 2017, 10:40 am Moose Post #8

We live in a society.

Yeah, if we're good with replacing the site Wiki (and given the state of that I can't imagine we wouldn't be), then the link can just change.

That would be quite the honor. If the staff here can add my account on the wikia I can add them as administrators on the wiki.

I plan on updating the wiki with more of the EUD/EPD information available with current remaster versions. Anyone is welcome to contribute as well!

The Curious

Dunno who wrote some articles but a few of them are full of mistakes or outright tripe. Look at this one, for example, and tell me if we're dealing with the same Starcraft at all?
https://staredit-network.fandom.com/wiki/Units.dat_Entry_Listing

Otherwise, it's been mostly a very interesting and useful reading.

Veteran Mapper

There are very interesting entries in there.
Some of these units did exist in the beta, according to old documentation from devs (Raider, Merc Biker, 6 heroes listed at bottom, and several others that survived the beta).
Seeing that the "Independent" CC, Starport, and Jump Gate survived, its weird that the Barracks and Factory did not.
The zerg units (below) are the most interesting... a 2nd form of Hunter Killer, a 3rd form of Kukulza, a hero Scourge, 3 Cerebrates, and 5 infested units. I haven't found any mention of these anywhere else.

After studying the full list closely, I've pulled down the units that either didn't survive the beta, or never existed.

0x33 - Infested Marine
0x34 - Infested Ghost
0x35 - Infested Battlecruiser
0x36 - Infested Zealot
0x37 - Infested Templar
0x41 - Hunter Killer (Lurker)
0x45 - Kukulza (Devourer)
0x46 - Skipper (Scourge)
0x5E - High Templar (Hero)
0xB4 - Zerg Cerebrate Zargil
0xB5 - Zerg Cerebrate Zarak
0xB6 - Zerg Cerebrate Faluzure
0xD6 - Independent Barracks (Unused)
0xD7 - Independent Factory (Unused)
0xF7 - Raider
0xF8 - Mercenary Biker
0xF9 - Unused Neutral 2
0xFA - Unused Neutral 3
0xFB - Unused Neutral 4
0xFC - Unused Neutral 5
0xFD - Unused
0xFE - Sally
0xFF - Critter
1x00 - Greddo
1x01 - Grom
1x02 - Peter
1x03 - Boskk

The Curious

Looks like someone delusional confused their wishlist with what is really there in the game. A bunch of that stuff seems to come from the "Vision of the Future" campaign series made by Razorclaw X. You know, that Starcraft / Ranma anime crossover.

All the beta units like Raider and whatnot were in the top half of the list, and remnants of them could be seen in the vanilla stat_txt.tbl, but then all of them except 2 got overwritten by Brood War units. Only two "unused" units remained - those in slots 91 and 92 (Cargo ship and Gunship), and a bunch of unfinished buildings further down in the list that crash the game by default.

Oh, and the Gerard DuGalle ghost unit never existed either. There's only a Battlecruiser hero (which was confusingly called Ghost in Brood War where it was only available for briefings, but it's actually a fully shaped BC hero - unlike Mengsk unit which lost his Yamato Gun somewhere along the way). Same deal with Raszagal (Dark Templar), there's no such unit.

Can anyone here edit the wikia to remedy all that?

Mostly correct. DuGalle, Mengsk, Raszagal, and Aldaris are "extended units". They were intended only to be used in briefings, but can appear in-game with a standard unit sprite (BC, BC, Corsair, HT respectively).
In briefing triggers, DuGalle is mistakenly labeled as a Ghost, and Raszagal as a DT.
They do not have order "responses" because they weren't intended to be owned by human players.
Mengsk is the only extended unit that does not have tech (abilities). This may suggest that his data was created before Yamato Gun.

Aug 18 2019, 6:31 am Pr0nogo Post #18

The reason Mengsk doesn't have yamato gun is because his command card is set to Basic Commands, something you can find in 5 seconds or less by launching firegraft. He also does not have the dat reqs to use yamato gun. There is zero reason to speculate that this is anything but an oversight (which in and of itself is inconsequential considering blizzard never intended for the unit to be used in-game).

Though it is pretty funny that someone threw in anime campaign references just to misinform people LMAO

The Curious

I'm not new at this, you know. :) I know all of this (and more), and have been using these units in my campaigns just like any other. I guess most people here have.

The real question is, can someone fix that article in the wikia and the other ones where some of that incorrect information seeped in as well (for example, the protoss and terran spell lists).

The Curious

In the end I signed up for the Fandom.com and just edited that stuff out. If you want something done right, do it yourself. :)

P.S. Someone had also vandalized the "list of units" article, though not to the same extent. I wonder what were they thinking when they were adding information clearly contradicting the actual data?
