Usually, I believe the host would post highlighted clues and explanations after the game ended.

I'll post some of them, but a lot of them were purposefully vague and could be interpreted a few ways. Others still were rendered moot by circumstance, such as the last clue.

HINT 1 - Identity of the first killer

"Is this the real life?" -- jjf28's signature includes "Rs_yes-im4real"

HINT 2 - Identity of the second killer

"Do what you must with the hand that you're dealt." -- When life gives you (hahaof)lemons...

HINT 3 - The return of the patriarch (this was rendered moot as he died to the bodyguard immediately afterwards)

"The boy estranged has now returned." -- hahaoflemon came back after the cutoff for night 3's actions

jjf28 was temporarily appointed patriarch due to hahaoflemon's extended absence, and elected to send hahaoflemon to carry out the kill order during night 2, which is why the hint was for lemon and not for jjf himself. It's also why the detective found that he committed no night action. Such a game-changing role being AFK was pretty shitty, and led to weird stuff like this which probably doesn't feel rewarding for people to find the answer to since it wasn't due to the actions of the other players but rather the inactivity of one player.

GG. Normally I'd demand that jjf explains how he wasn't Patriarch, but Pr0 already did that. Just a comment to that: Imo it's not a good move to allow people switch roles between night and day. If jjf was assigned Patriarch he should've stayed Patriarch during the day / after death. Otherwise detective's intelligence just becomes unreliable and thus the role useless. I understand the afk situation made things difficult, but the better solution would've been to allow the active mafia to "remote control" their mate's powers.

Generally I liked the density of power roles, and how powerful some combos would have been. However this made the game kind of hit and miss. 3 Mafia is a lot in a game with only 6 town players, especially considering one of the neutrals is also mafia aligned. This was nicely balanced by a default hub and 2 strong protection roles and a detective to gather intel.

The game basically couldn't have gone better for town: We had perfect lynching and some luck / some good decisions during the night. This led to overwhelming town victory. Although I feel it could have easily turned. One bad lynch and maybe a bad night and mafia could have disabled us with their silence/hit combo.
Although I must assume it couldn't have been very fun for mafia (some responses from mafia regarding that would be nice) because from what I could tell they did everything right (except last night when it didn't matter anymore) and still lost.

But mafioso, tell me one thing: How did you figure out all the roles? -- I'll admit we could read a lot into the mechanics of the roles and had a thus good idea who could be what quite early on just by process of eliminatation. And we were lucky to get detec into our team early on so he could confirm all the assumptions, so we usually got 2 roles confirmed per night. -- But you guys didn't have a detec and still nailed our roles. How?

I feel a bit bad for the Witch lynch, because that role would've surely spiced things up a lot! Although it was probably for the best for us that we got it early (although we didn't specifially aim for Witch).

Corbo, am I right to assume you never claimed a role? Also thanks for not betraying me. I was afraid of that for a while.

Finally I'd like to mention the irony that I joined because this mafia had clues (interesting roles were just a kicker), but in the end never even tried to use clues (even dismissed them in the thread) because we had other means of gathering intel.

GG folks. Crappy afk Town also made 0 mistakes which obv would make it harder with AFK.

Night 2 could have had night 3's result with you and hahaoflemon dying had loveless not roleblocked you, which I thought was kind of funny. Would have probably gone much better for the mafia if that had happened. Instead, nothing happened because Ashamed also healed lil-inferno, which allows you guys an extra day with no town casualties to figure everything out.

I also expected Corbo to claim shaman when jjf28 was lynched, but he didn't, so w/e

I kept him in the loop how well our team is doing, so he knew siding with mafia would just be suicide but not enough to turn the game.

The next day we had Ash confirmed Doc (and thus found all 3 mafia).

Roles like detective render clues obsolete. They make sense in a game without town power roles, but that's about it. I investigated NudeRaider night 1 and saw that he didn't visit anyone but someone visited him, so I PMed him and that's what led to our alliance. From there it was just a matter of figuring out possible role compositions.

I'm curious what witch's final power would've been; I don't think that's been revealed yet. Also, next game should start on day 1 instead of a night, and mayor should be elected by vote (the winner gains mayor powers in addition to their existing powers) instead of being a role imposed on someone. Optionally the mayor could choose someone to be lynched post-election prior to night 1.

I think they led to interesting discussion during day 2, but otherwise were ignored/dismissed. They were a fun design challenge for me to implement (trying to find a balance between too obvious and too vague) but I don't think they worked otherwise. This game was also only 3 day/night cycles and the main scaling component (witch) was lynched on day 1, so a lot of the moving parts of the game never really showed up.

The random witch lynch was unfortunate as was our AFK, I imagine the balance would have been different if this weren't the case, but given that it was the case it seemed terribly OP for the mayor to be confirmed by the host, have complete control of voting, and have an anonymous bodyguard - there should be less power for the role or more reason to doubt his identity.

Well I was the one who guessed the roles. My clues were that Corbo seemed to not really care about the game even more than usual, so he was either town or neutral. Payne was in the same boat. My guess on lil was actually because he went ham on Farty and got backing, so he must have had a way to verify his role with the Bodyguard/Mayor right out the gate. Easiest way to do that was be the Detective. I had disabled Nude night 1 and night 2 because I didn't know what he was yet, but figured Ash or Nude were the Doctor/Bodyguard because behind inferno, they were the most active involved townies. Since the Night 2 hit was unsuccessful, that meant Ash was the Doctor. Kinda figured fuck it Night 3 and since hahaof was still afk, I got the choice to suicide him to end the game faster.

I wanted to protect myself first night from night actions, but I wasn't allowed. xD

I think I'll probably allow that in future games, though it wouldn't have made any difference since you were immediately lynched.
