Just so you know, both Terran Beacons can burn to death when in the red (via HP tigger, or preset in editor).
It acts much like a normal Terran building in the red but without the fire animation.
Turning on invincible will NOT stop it from dieing.
It will not add to building deaths in the final score tally. Beacons aren't actually considered buildings.

Just here for the pie

Not sure why anyone would need to know that, but ok. I guess some person will need a beacon to be killed in their map eventually ;/ .

There are:
Units, buildings and specials (like baecon or unused terran bldg)

Both buildings and specials suffer the low-hp-damage-thing.
1. So it not necessaryly means, it is a building
2. There is no way to kill a special, you will never get score for that. You can make it to die, but you cant kill it.

Not really :P Think about it, if I needed it dead, I could just remove it and create and kill a unit.

but if you wanted a timer for it to die without using DCs, waits, or a countdown timer, setting the hp % would work.

FYI, turning on invincibilityn ever stopped any Terran building from burning down.

huh... i didn't know that about Invincibility and Fire on T buildings...

but yea, someone09 hit the nail on the head. It's basically a really cheap countdown-counter.

Protect the beacon map?
Protect the beacon from enemy unit, each unit that reaches the beacon will reduce it's hp by 5%, and blah blah blah, just ideas :)

That has nothing to do with the burning effect.
Infact reducing it by 5% of the former value may even HEAL the beacon when more than 5% hp already burned down.

Feb 24 2008, 12:49 am FooFighters Post #11

don't use the terran beacon for the map then, just use a beacon that doesn't take damage over time, FYI, the protoss beacon/flag beacon, zerg too

Ah, but then that just proves that this information is worthless! BUWHHAHAAHAH.

Actually, I just realized it's a great way to get people for COPing, constantly set it to 5% health in the location it starts in, so if they COP it, it stops healing and burns! BOOAHHAHA

lol. I don't see why you would use a beacon for a physical countdown timer though. It'd be better to use a burning terran building so that the players can click on it and see the life go down.

So you don't know how much time is left before it dies and whatever your counting down to happens.

In that case you could just enable invincibility for a Terran building. Unless you really want to see a flashing thing go boom :)

Does it show fire animation? It would be cool if it did, because it can be walked over. :flamer:

Relatively ancient and inactive

Hmm... This may be just me, but I see a four-section bound map with a beacon in the middle. Pass a section, step on the beacon, and heals to 5%. Take too long with the bound, and lose.

Oh really? And I see four-section bound map with a command center in the middle. Pass a section, step near the CC and heal it to 5%. Take too long and you can see the hp burn down, and lose.
