Let me show you how to hump without making love.

Definitely shrink it down quite significantly. Or just give us the option of sizing it like we do with the grid, so everyone can be happy.

Maybe just a white dot for center is OK?

I see you !

Its 66% of location size, or 4 tiles, whatever is smaller.

Apr 11 2017, 8:42 am Lanthanide Post #24

Is the screenshot not showing the 66% / 4 tiles version? 'cause it looks much bigger than 4 tiles - looks like 6 wide and tall to me.

I think 3 tiles wide would be reasonable.

Apr 11 2017, 9:04 am Wormer Post #25

I think 4 tiles is the radius.

In my opinion star is too disruptive, I would better prefer x or + configuration (or even a dot). Then I was thinking about something like of 4 pixel radius marker at most.

Can you please include an option to show dot, a marker or nothing at the center of the location?

I see you !

I changed it to 1.5 tiles for now.

Apr 12 2017, 7:11 am Heinermann Post #27

SDE, BWAPI owner, hacker.

I think just a tiny + would be reasonable. Assuming it would just appear on top of everything anyway. What's the point of the X?

Apr 12 2017, 8:44 am Suicidal Insanity Post #28

I see you !

Well, first I wanted a big 'X' across the entire location so you could see where the center would be even if it wasn't currently on screen. Then I added the + for the grid system. Then I made the X smaller...

maybe I'll just rework the scrolling to allow you to scroll past the left or top of the map edge (boy that will not be fun) to see off screen locations, and just use the +.

See, its evolving !

I may have had a genius idea while visiting my kitties today, or perhaps completely useless?

Mouse wheel scroll -> toggle through on screen locations quickly.

Apr 15 2017, 11:53 pm Zoan Post #30

Math + Physics + StarCraft = Zoan

Now that you mention it, using the scroll wheel to zoom in and out might be a good idea to consider.

control + scrollwheel zoom has been in scmdraft for a decade ;)

Wow! :w00t: And you're telling this only now?

Mouse wheel scroll -> toggle through on screen locations quickly.

Would say yes! There is one problem: nothing tells when a larger than a viewport location is selected. First that comes to my mind is to make the whole location brighter, but I'm not entirely sure if that's the best way to approach this.

Since we mentioned Zoom, at some levels the grid is getting lost.

When it comes to SC:R, a support for high-res resources would be really cool.

Its a standard windows UI interaction, I never thought I had to mention it.

You now have the star in the center, if its so big that you neither see the center nor the edges, then it gets problematic...

That's because otherwise the grid ends up taking more of the screen than the terrain would.

At times I'm using several custom Anywhere-alike locations that cover large areas of the map. Maybe exclude those locations that fully include the view. Maybe no. There is just a thing to consider, but if there will be lock/hide mechanism this isn't really a problem because I'm going to lock or even hide those anyway.

Does Starcraft allow for that to be done?

Yes. It's a normal location other than StarEdit creates it by default & hides it.

I see you !

So... if anyone wants to test 6+ months of major code rework + minor updates which hasn't seen much bug testing, PM me... Should have something by Monday.

Apr 30 2017, 11:51 am Wormer Post #38

By the way, does the bug which sometimes moved players along forces got fixed? I'm not sure what is cause, but sometimes I end up with computer players moving to human-only forces and vice versa.

Hello,

I'd like to suggest that you include the option to increase font size in SCMDraft. I have difficulties reading pretty much anything in the editor, and it gets irritating rather fast. Especially when working with triggers. I'm sure there are others like me, so I'd really appreciate that.

Other less important, convenience increasing things that come to mind are dropdown menu for map sizes, a button to inverse a location, a button cover the whole map with a certain degree of FOW, separate and always visible buttons for each layer. The list with colour codes visible when editing unit names, the way they're visible when editing the display text action. Also, when selecting units or scripts from the dropdown menu in the classic trigger editor, backspace doesn't always work, which is a distinct annoyance.

You can see that I'm a newbie at this, but I do use the editor, and these are the things that I'd personally like to see. Especially increased font size. Though there are some other minor things... If I think of anything worthy of attention I'll come back to post it here.

Thanks for your work.

I see you !

One day scmdraft will respect the windows font scaling settings. Its quite annoying to implement though.

What do you mean by different degree of FOG? You can only store 'is preexplored' or 'is not preexplored' and that can be toggled globally.

Location properties window also already have buttons for invert X / Y / X+Y

What do you mean by always visible buttons for layers? You mean like the 'always show fog of war' and 'always show locations' menu options? Not sure what you are getting at.
