So we're ICCUP-only now?
I can play from about 8PM-1AM UTC+2.
Pretty much, yeah. I see several senners in channel donuts on ICCUP frequently.

For example, Neive is one of the people that is helping us on the project and we hope to down the line implement his awesome Teippi project directly into the ShieldBattery, which removes the sprite limitations of the game; something that could be very useful to the UMS mapping community.
I don't know what this "Teippi" is but disabling the sprite limit sounds like something that goes into modding territory. Even if this Shield Battery thing does get UMS support who knows what sort of changes they're doing to the base game that could affect the custom maps, such as EUD memory indexes and so on. Being able to disable the sprite limit would be cool, though I'd value disabling the string limit even more. :D

Crap ^^

I thought they'd keep all of the original SC features without a fail in the Shieldbattery, and include new screen resolutions and all the stuff they wanted to, without disabling other things.
And yeah, string limit is the worst ^_^ Locations are next.

I'll see about ICCUP then. It's safe, right ?

For me weapon sprite limit is the worst. So many maps where you had units shooting each other but not dying. Such a mess :(

Never have been able to get iccup working; can play on Fish but hosting doesn't work.

I play on USEast still daily with friends, though there aren't many people, it's about all I can do short of chillin' with the Koreans.

Unfortunate, but good luck with your map nights. :D

You just have to add the gateway and then register on the website. You don't need to do anything special beyond that.

TinyMap2 - Latest in map compression! ( 7/09/14 - New build! )
EUD Action Enabler - Lightweight EUD/EPD support! (ChaosLauncher/MPQDraft support!)

MapSketch - New image->map generator!
EUDTrig - topic - Quickly and easily convert offsets to EUDs! (extended players supported)

Let me know if you guys plan to do this on BNet instead of ICCUP/Fish.

I can log on USWest/USEast whatever works for you guys.

Why not ICCUP? As farty said, it's pretty easy to set up.

I used to use it actually all the time, but if you guys change your minds and use BNet, let me know. I played a few UMS maps with some EU friends today and has some fun.

I've done that, but it always says that my login info is invalid, even after re-registering several times with several names, and being very careful with multiple attempts to login. Not sure what's wrong at all.

I'm on USEast almost 24/7 in channel 'sex', my username is Sato. If nobody is playing on East at the time then I'm probably on Asia, but my bot is always online on East at least.

I have a small group of active friends that I play silly UMS with every day, though it varies when they're on.

Would love more people to play RPG/Defense/etc co-op maps with, I'm on a quest to beat all of them (that are beatable) and about 90% done by this point (maybe 60% if you count korean maps)

awesome I may look for ya on USEast, if I am on, I am mostly on USWest, but sometime I log on EU for friends who play there as well!

Wherever I am I normally reside is channel "OP JC0" where my bot runs a moderated Channel.

Is there even anyone on USWest..? Every time I've logged on in the past 3 months it's been even more dead than East (which is to say, games are completely nonexistent even at peak USA hours)

I use the server for hosting and playing with friends, I don't really check how many players or users there is on the actual server. I don't really get the point of why that would matter.

To play public games, obviously.

Not only that, the UMS crowed is divided and silent for the most part. I always encourage people to get to know who each other are, to have greater perspective upon the craft they are working on. This game might be old, but there are enough people on this site alone to participate and keep this whole shibang alive.

The sooner we achieve good social communication, the better we realize and understand the minds of those who have been involved in this scene for years. In numbers we can do better to promote UMS and starcraft in general, and perhaps better encourage developers to keep maintaining the sc1 scene.

Through that, we all stand to gain an intellectual understanding of a creative aspect of our lives that never existed before under these specific circumstances. The game is old, really old, but really good, and we are all still here, i think it stands to reason there is something cool within that, and I'm personally interested in getting to know the people that have been doing the same thing I have for 10+ years.

I made the following maps; Hyperion 2, The Undead, The Undead Coop, Realm Rpg beta, and Overlords.

Aug 26 2016, 2:06 pm JCarrill0 Post #36

Well, I have mentioned if you guys want to host it at Bnet Server I would be happy to. I just don't see the need to be on ICcup or Fish in order to play UMS maps, when I can simply log on Bnet., join a channel and play there. it comes with the game after all, and it works! You guys can easily log back over to ICCup when the event is over and go back to "public games" after the weekly event yes?

I log on, play some games, then Log off. I do not see the need to download, install, and use a separate server unless the current one is not working.

Now if someone else is looking for public play and the activity is less then par, then by all means, find one that works for you!

I know when I needed my maps tested, I used USWest just fine. People came on and tested. oddly enough it was more active on Starcraft, then Starcraft brood war.

USEast seems to be the most active for Brood War games, but again I'm only on when i want to play SC, as I play other games, so again that's why I didn't see why the server mattered when doing games with friends.

I do hope you guys are having fun playing them on ICCUP :)

I think the point is to standardize the place people play so we can consolidate the community due to the lack of players.

In addition there are various tools and plugins that make playing on ICCUP a more fun and rewarding experience. LAN latency to name one such thing.

I wasn't disputing it, I merely was saying if you ever host it on Battle.net again, let me know and I would play, but i got heat for it apparently.

Hey there again.

I went playing / testing my UMS maps (or other UMS) on Iccup because it looked like most of the active UMS players got there, including SEN players. Chasing after active people to play with can be tough nowadays so I just followed. Doesn't matter where we play to me, as long as we can meet and play.

It's good to know groups of active players still exist though. I play BW since it got out and would love to continue doing it. It's just that great ^_^ I'm trying to finish my multiplayer Naruto map by all means at the moment, test it periodically with people and it's going well.
