Glad to hear. Just for the record, how did you manage to solve your USB problem?

I was originally trying to install Windows 7 and then use the free upgrade to get Windows 10, but that installer doesn't have USB 3.0 support, so none of my ports were working. ShadowFlare informed me that you can use Windows 7 keys with the Windows 10 installer and it'll automatically upgrade you to Windows 10, and that installer has USB 3.0 support, so I was able to use my mouse and keyboard. I don't know why the USB 2.0 port I have wasn't working with the Windows 7 installer, but everything worked fine once I used the Windows 10 one.

So I'm trying to figure out a way to use my headphones when I plug them into the front port on my computer, but I can't seem to figure out how to make the sound play through them instead of the speakers. In the Realtek Audio Manager, there's a setting to mute the rear output device when front headphones are plugged in, but since my sound it coming through the graphics card, this doesn't work. Does anyone know how to do this?

Also, another odd thing that happens is that whenever I try to turn on my computer, it turns on for half a second and then shuts off. If I then press the power button again, it turns on and runs like normal. The only things that show up on Google for me are the computer turning off and not turning back on, but like I said, it works fine if I press the power button a second time, so I don't really know what's going on here.

I gave Dem0n the link for getting Windows 10 iso files on the Shoutbox, but I'll put it here for everyone else:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/techbench

You can get the unmodified original isos from there, though it seems that when a new one is released it takes about a week for it to show up there. The file name seems to change when a new one is available there.

Newer computers often have every USB port running off the xHCI (USB 3.0) controller, even the 2.0 ports. Usually the only exceptions are things like USB 3.1 ports using a separate controller because the main chipset doesn't support 3.1. In some cases the system firmware will wait until the OS initializes USB 3.0 support to run the controller in xHCI mode, but I don't know how reliably the feature works, like if things can potentially falsely trigger the detection even if the OS doesn't support USB 3.0 natively.

You may need to manually change your default audio device every time, or it may do it automatically after you set it for the first time. Right-click the Windows sound icon in the taskbar and select playback devices, then right-click your headphones from the list and select the option to set it as default (I'd recommend this first rather than the "set default" button). Once this is done, Windows might set your headphones as the default device when plugged in and go back to your previous device when they are unplugged. Otherwise, you might just need to change it manually each time you want to switch.

As for the other issue, I have no idea there.

None.

Yeah setting my headphones to the default device worked. I thought I already tried that, but whatever. Thanks.

The only thing that kind of resembles that behavior is a feature (introduced with Windows 7?) that when you shut down the computer it closes windows, but then restarts it until a certain point to preload it for the next boot and then shuts off. Mabye that's misbehaving?

Trying to find the name of the feature I found nothing except Intel Rapid Start, but that seems to work differently, so maybe I have no idea what I'm talking about... :/

I had this issue in one of my rigs. I never figured out what it was, but I did later learn that I had a bad stick of RAM, so maybe that was causing the issue. Try taking out some of your RAM and see if the issue persists.

This actually doesn't happen anymore. It only seems to happen right after I flip the switch on the PSU back on, but then after that initial boot, it works fine. I think it was happening a lot when I first built my computer because I was unplugging the PSU and turning it off a lot so I could open the case and tinker with things.

Oh I know that feature from Fujitsu PCs. It's called the 'Zero Watt' function there. Not sure what it does exactly, but it's supposed to minimize leak current when you turn off your computer. But it needs a brief power cycle after being disconnected from the power grid. Maybe you can look for something similar in your UEFI and disable it (though I actually think it's useful).
