so when re-reading the Manual from the Starcraft CD (I say CD because the digital one gives you a BS manual)
you read about the races, and the factions of each race, not to mention the COLOR of the faction.
(again this is going from the manual, SC wiki has a tons more info about this, but sticking to the manual for the time being)

Every race had 6 factions

Factions, Broods, Tribes

Is is possible to make Factions like Omega Squadren Black?
Why did they not fully use these factions in the Story? (I know for the most part they did, but honestly, not really)
Mutiplayer Factions


I am asking cause I would like to perhaps make my own Campaign as my final project for my sc1 map making, I have always wanted to, but this is project in the distant future, so I would like to discuss it if anyone is up for it.

SCMDraft can access extended colours like black (Omega Squadron) and light blue (KLF).

They didn't use any extended factions because they were shortsighted and thought that the inclusion of the UED would have a positive impact on the story. Instead they fucked everything up.

black?
right but actual black? I know about the player colors in GUedit and scmd2 (CHKdraft can do it too), but this just masks the colors, I never seen black though, that's cool. (I know they mini maps shows them all as black I think since its neutral Colors)
Edit: I see 9 = Green, 10 is Pale Yellow, 11 is Tan, 12 is Dark Aqua, 13 is Pale green, 14 is Blueish Grey, 15 is Pale Yellow and 16 is Cyan, so which one is black?

Can you guys give me more details about the Development story of this?

P138 Black - az exaggerates its consistency imo, but it's prolly the best black you'll get.

Colors go much further than just 16. You can input numbers in the hundreds and they'll have different results. As jjf said, 138 is your best bet for black, but try the other numbers and see what colors they produce. Word of caution, however: the colors might appear different in scmdraft than in Starcraft, so you'll have to actually test the colors to make sure they're what you want.

Yeah multiple links and screenshots awesome, getting back on the topic of Factions colors,

lots of unfinished development, tons of info about these factions but very very limited in the actual game. I dont recal hearing much about umoja-Protectorate until sc2 hots. I recal reading about Terran Dominion meeting up once to visit his son.

PS - thanks for the 138 color = black thread.

Theoretically, there should be 256 possible distinct colors because SCBW uses 256-color graphics.

Only the first 16 colors are defined. Others will vary on other factors, tileset in particular. My best guess is that going above 16 reads in color data from memory that does not actually contain color information. There is no color intended for black, just colors that happen to be black.

There's next to nothing to go off of when it comes to discussing the story. Blizzard didn't develop their universe enough in the game so they turned to books with poorly-thought out premises and had them written by writers who couldn't possibly deliver given the circumstances.

You're better off writing your own story within the universe if you want to stick with StarCraft. Retconning everything wrong with Blizzard's story is a good start.
