Blizzard released an intro cinematic for their next stand-alone game StarCraft II - Legacy of the Void which will be released on 10th November 2015.
If you pre-purchase the game, you will receive access to a 3-mission mini campaign that takes place between the story of Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void.
On release, Blizzard will give modders access to all assets within the game, if they own at least one of the three SC2 titles.
Quote from Blizzard Entertainment
With Heart of the Swarm going standalone, we’re also making a few changes to the Arcade. Previously, if modders and game makers only owned Wings of Liberty, they could only publish games to the Arcade using Wings of Liberty assets and were unable to use Heart of the Swarm assets. With this update, we’re freeing up our asset library so that modders only need to own any one of the StarCraft II releases (Wings of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm, or the upcoming Legacy of the Void) to publish Arcade games that use assets from all expansions. This also means modders with access to Wings of Liberty or the standalone Heart of the Swarm will be able to use assets from Legacy of the Void.
As a reminder, the Arcade and the custom game section are free to play, so everyone can play the games you create.
Last but not least, the editor will receive a few new capabilities as seen in Heroes of the Storm and LotV's Beta files. Blizzard added a few new fields to the current data model and added a couple of new trigger actions into the game.
Data-mining revealed that they even seem to work on data wizards that allow you to create a skeleton for a unit more easily. They seem to act like templates to quickly generate more complex constructs. These wizards can be created, edited, im- and exported by the user.
For example, you could create a template for unit archetypes like a WC3 Hero, a projectile-shooting unit like a Hydralisk or a unit with a non-projectile weapon like a Marine or an Archon. Other examples would be creating chain lightning template to quickly create spells that spread like chain lightning, etc. So, it might be very easy to create a chain heal spell using such a wizard.
