None of these characters except Goro were in MK before, so I don't care about any of them. I don't know who Tanya and Tremor are, but quite honestly, Predator and Jason don't sound like they'd be very fun (Freddy Kruger is way better than Jason), so I'm not even mad that I can't play them without purchasing them.

Tanya has been playable in more games than Goro. She's like a lame version of Reptile, since she can turn invisible.

Tanya, Rain, Baraka and Sindel are non-playable opponents in story mode. They don't have X-ray attacks, fatalities, or variations though.

That's pretty dumb how you can't play these characters that have been in past games, and are even in the story. I wonder what the thinking behind that was because right now, it doesn't seem like there are even that many characters to choose from.

Yeah it really comes down to the price to value ratio if DLCs or expansions are fair. And I dare say this ratio has gone down considerably the past 10 years, so naturally I'm wary when a dev offers DLCs in such insulting times. When they release the character for $0.5 - $1 that might be a fair price compared to the full price of the game, but not $5 which is more than 10% of a game and a game that has (I don't know) say 20 characters adding one should be less than 5%.

The problem is people keep being the overpriced DLC.

They don't care that some minority think the price is 'insulting'. As long as the masses buy it, they will see no reason to decrease the price. They'll always try to charge with as much as they can get away with. And when the masses do think something is too expensive - then they drop it down until people start buying.

I still remember scoffing when TF2 first released its crates and keys mechanic, with the keys each selling for $2.50. "Who the hell would pay that much money for a CHANCE at an in-game item?"

And damn - it's still $2.50 to this day...

Did you consider the fact that they're charging what it's worth? That isn't "overpriced". Something is overpriced when the price is higher than the profit equilibrium for supply and demand. If most people are paying the current price, then it's correctly priced; the minority who thinks otherwise has expectations not based on economics or reality.

Overpriced is just a subjective term. If someone thinks it's overpriced, they won't buy it. Someone thinks the price is acceptable, they buy it.

I don't care that the masses think 2.50 for TF2 crate key is acceptable. I think it's overpriced so I don't buy them.
