Magic box god; Suck it Corbo

ITS HAPPENING!!!

I'm excited as hell for this considering my favorite race is the protoss.

Here is a direct quote from their battlenet page.
Hierarch Artanis seeks to unite the protoss factions in StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void. What begins as a mission to retake Aiur, soon transforms into a quest to defeat the ancient evil known as Amon and his threat upon the entire sector.

You can now get a first look at this epic conclusion to the StarCraft II series in our new Legacy of the Void preview page. Catch up on the game’s story and learn about the major characters. Check out previews of the new game features, such as Archon Mode, Automated Tournaments, and Allied Commanders. There’s also an ample supply of new media such as trailers, gameplay videos, screenshots, and more!

What do you guys think? I'm pretty hyped about the new units and the fact that old units are getting some love too. Protoss get stasis again OMG!!!

...did you not think there was gonna be a third campaign? :0_o: I'm not sure what the hype is all about.

OVERWATCH STATUS GO

Yeah, they did kinda say it was three parts from the beginning. That said, having played the demo on the show floor, LotV is really fun.

What I meant was they finally revealed some of the stuff that's going to be in the game. I knew it was coming but with Blizzard you never know what their "soon™" means

Hello

Oh my god the new changes are quite awesome!
Zerg can finally deal with forcefields!

I am afraid of massing Terran Cyclones to be too strong.
Also, every change on terran untis that already existed, with exception of the Thor, is just screaming "BACKDOOR!!!".
Not that this is a really bad thing, but this game will really be stressfull.

Melee and campaign aside, what I hope for is a new Arcade section.
I hope, they have taken note of all the complaints. But I sadly doubt they are going to change anything.

I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.

Open beta in January. LOTV will be standalone, so NO need to own HOTS nor WOL.

edit:
Blizzard tweeted that it will be in first half of 2015. Redeye seems to have misunderstood something.

You know how it is with Blizzard: "It's done when it's done."
One of the few qualities they still have from when they were awesome.

I seem to recall with Heart of the Swarm the expansion was announced at the same time as the release date.

Evidently now that they have tried that approach, they weren't happy with it and decided to go in the opposite direction. I guess they want to have more of a beta test without having to rush it or the expectation of a release date, and they'll see one once they're someway through the beta.

None.

Let me show you how to hump without making love.

I just saw the Battlecruiser change and thought, "So basically you can save them mid-combat from death, blink them to one of their workers or an expo... Both saving a unit and creating pressure."

Aw true true.

From what I saw it seems like that ability has a significant charge up time. It might not be that reliable, unless carefully microed.

Hello

I think it is not good for escaping battles, but rather to help other parts of your army, expansions or to just backdoor your opponent.

The way I saw the Battlecruiser change video is it disappears instantly but it takes a while to warp back into the field. I don't see anything stopping it from warping into a mineral line and wrecking face so I think this change might make Battlecruisers used much more often in matches.

Nov 11 2014, 12:21 am payne Post #15

:payne:

Tried to play it at the demo station. I got wrecked pretty bad because I suck at melee so I barely even got to even build the new units they provided. :(

Actually, come to think of it, in 2 games, I did not get a single one of those new units out.

For my defense, I do not think I have played much more than 10 melee games in my life time.

I got into Starcraft because of the UMS maps and i played them exclusively. When i did try melee games i just got utterly destroyed so i never bothered to continue it.

The SC2 arcade was decent but the way it was set up doomed it to fail. I feel like they focused solely on melee, releasing a flawed arcade with the game.

They learned from their mistakes in Heart of the Swarm and it is vastly improved but I am hopeing with Legacy of the Void Blizzard steps up to the plate and makes the arcade something worthy of being the successor to the UMS scene of Brood War.

Hello

"Vaslty"? Not really.

Magic box god; Suck it Corbo

That may have been an overstatement. I guess i was trying to say they are learning as time passes and I'm hopeing that by the time Legacy of the Void comes out we will have a functional arcade that will be as popular as Brood War and Warcraft 3.

Nov 13 2014, 3:11 pm Devourer Post #19

Hello

Hope dies last, but considering that Blizzard did not really change the arcade that much ever since SC2 came out (not talking about beta), the hope surely will die.

If you say that they are learning, I have to add that their learning speed is retardedly slow.

It feels like they do not really take any feedback by the arcade mappers into consideration. They do lame and bad PR stuff like that contest they hosted some time ago. I honestly do not think much is going to change in LotV regarding the arcade; There will be a great campaign, an increase in the ladder activity, even some in arcade due to new mapping functions and units/terrain.
But eventually, mappers are going to stop again if the hosting system remains the same.

If they really "learned" (or even consider the arcade system to be bad / a mistake, maybe they think... it actually... is... good the way it is ( , no they can not be so blind)), they could have changed it within one patch, maybe worth a month of work or something. Not four years.

Pretty much all of this. They are catering to the casual players via Campaign and the competitive players through Melee. On release, Blizzard proved something to me... They didn't really understand what gave their game life outside of those two elements: The chatroom-based system of communication in Battle.net and that new games were always given a chance through hosting... Not this system o quantity of games played within a set amount of time by a quantity of players. This will always cause maps that were given a surge of popularity to get them on the front page that contain any measure of replay-ability and at least some progression that persists game-to-game, an infinite slot on the front page.

Want a game on the front page? Follow those guidelines and you still won't get there unless you have a surge of popularity to get you onto the front page because if your game isn't there, it isn't worth playing according to most players.
