Please report problems and suggest features for Staredit.Network.
The following lists and the contents within each list are roughly ordered by importance.
BUGSPassword recovery is not functioning
- Submitting an invalid form (e.g., empty post) takes you to a blank page instead of displaying an error.
- Back navigation (ajax mode) has issues in some scenarios and requires a page refresh to load content.
- Some members show up multiple times in various areas. (e.g., "Members in topic", "Members in Shoutbox")
- Unexpected hover behavior on Site nav after opening a Magic Box.
- Quotes use quoting member's rank icons instead of current user's rank icons.[2]
MISSED FEATURES FROM V5- Users need the ability to see the edit history on their own posts.
- SEN links by default should display the name of the topic/file/location of SEN it's linking.
- In a forum, the pages are no longer listed unless you are in the topic.
- Allow images in signatures (for purposes of having linked images, external rotating images, etc.).
- Search Shouts by a specific member.
- Disable emoticons option for posting.
- Ability to disable signatures when browsing topics.
- Ability to select all / unselect all forums in search.
- History tracking for magic boxes.
- Members page (site/members/) should have filtering.
- Old wiki links don't point to the correct pages anymore.
- No "odds of winning" on the Raffle.
FEATURE REQUESTS- Sortable database.
- Notification when someone has added a new post to the thread you are posting in, allowing you to refresh without losing what you were posting originally.
- Mobile version of the site / more mobile-friendly
- Add warning if trying to navigate away from a page that has unsubmitted data.
- Bump threads when the OP (optional) or most recent post (automatic) is edited.
- Quotable PM messages.
- Improve search functionality and post/topic history experience.
- Redo image popup and resize with jQuery.
- Function to find your last shout in the Shoutbox.
- Receive notifications (configurable?) for Shoutbox activity (whispers, @Name, being quoted, etc.)
- Ability to pause Shoutbox Ajax requests (e.g., so clicking the quote button is easier).
- "shouts limit" could be improved: keep the shoutbox to display more than X items at any time.
- Enhance Unicode support and parsing
- Customizable smilies bar (i.e. listing favorite or most used smilies).
- Style changes for indicating new posts: make more noticeable. [SKIN-DEPENDENT]
- Add a countdown timer for SEN games.
- Safe-for-work skin?
- "Item Marketplace" to sell or trade items.
- Customize "Members Online"/"Members in This Topic" to be attached/unattached from the bottom of the screen.
- Unique forum index icons. [SKIN-DEPENDENT]
- Allow buying tickets for other members in the SEN raffle. [UNLIKELY]
- Allow opening additional magic boxes at some expense/penalty. [UNLIKELY]
- Add settings to order forums. [UNLIKELY]
Fixed / Implemented
The items are roughly ordered by when they were fixed/implemented chronologically.
BUGS- Some images of older posts may stretch the layout.[1]
- The SEN Wiki is broken.[2]
- Attachments aren't working for posts or the DLDB.
- Issue where SEN thinks you're not logged in when you are.
- Raffle tickets aren't charging the correct price.
- The first line of a signature is off compared to the other lines. They should all start at the same point.
- Some links aren't parsed correctly and come out broken.
- Fix/change the current way SEN displays images to preserve aspect ratio while resizing the image, rather that squishing it into a box.
- Whispers between other members shouldn't count toward the number of shouts to display.
- Dead links on various FAQ pages.
- Deleting a post causes the "Last Poster" to be the deleter.
- The notification for "Your post has been deleted" links to an error (because the user cannot view deleted posts).
- Errors when updating a DLDB submission to a new file.
- The login redirect is redirecting to the login page instead of the previous page.
- Heavily-nested BBCode links don't parse correctly (e.g., link inside quote inside collapse box)
- New topics on #unread will go to the last post, rather than the first post.
- Smiley title texts are getting escaped (e.g., visible slashes).
- Sizing issue with some avatars in the notification area.
- Char Limit Exceeding is ignored when making a post / pm etc.
- Sending/Receiving PMs to multiple recipients doesn't properly display in the UI.
MISSED FEATURES FROM V5- Editing without a comment when your post is less than 5 minutes old should not say you've edited it (ninja editing).
- Topic links on the forum index should go to first unread post, rather than the last post.
- Topic links on the portal page should go to the first unread post, rather than the last post.
- Move Lite Discussion between Null and Serious Discussion.
- Old DLDB links don't point to the correct files anymore.
- The page title should display the name of the topic/file/location of SEN you're on.
- Add a fixed width skin.
- Allow quotes from non-member sources. Allow hyperlinks as quote sources.
- "Code" BBCode should not have a scrollbar; missing "Codebox" BBCode.
- Ability to send minerals to another member.
- Allow members to select a custom post color that automatically appears in the colors dropdown.
- Allow choice of ranks, rather than have them skin dependent.
- The "Contact" button on a post should link to some form of contacting the member.
FEATURE REQUESTS- Ability to quote a shout that isn't on the first page of the Shoutbox.
Notes:
1. We have encountered this during the transfer and I am addressing this soon. In general, the image-parser is something I will take a deeper look into. I will then re-parse every forum post.
2. This problem existed prior to v6's launch (i.e., v6 did not directly cause this issue).

I can't talk in the shoutbox on my phone and clicking on global shoutbox makes it disappear altogether. I believe some of my settings will require updating also.

Sounds like a caching issue. Browsing on my phone works just fine. Try toggling the ajax navigation in your
settings.

Bug: changing the number of shouts to display in
http://www.staredit.net/settings/shoutbox/ doesn't work.
I think it's more that the old signature text is gone.

Well, technically it does, but that is like the amount of shouts it fetches when loading the page.
It probably would be good if "older" shouts at the bottom would be removed. True.

I would have loved that zerg skin without the bubbles.
In the shoutbox, hovering over a quote and waiting for a new incoming shout keeps the quote displayed even after I move my mouse off of it and try clicking on the quote/the shoutbox. Don't see a way of removing it without refreshing the page.

We know. That's part of the parser issue in the OP. They show correctly if you edit and save the post. Otherwise all old posts will not display them properly yet.

- Shoutbox colors... would be nice if these could be recovered without spending two months worth of minerals
- The [Quote] next to every shout is a bit much, perhaps a small " icon
- A page with just real time recent post activity and shoutbox would be amazing <3
- For latest forum posts mins/hours aren't showing, but ^ would make this irrelevant

Using the "Dungeon Escape" skin renders all forum links unresponsive.
None.
- There's no way to send minerals to someone now, though I'm unsure if this is intentional or not.
- There's no check/uncheck all for forums while searching.
- Green Zerg skin isn't showing up.
Will post more as I come across them.

When hovering a shoutbox quote which contains a link, you can't click the link because it disappears too quickly.
Not sure if intentional.
The site's not completely at fault for it, but the 'banner' is detected and blocked by Privoxy's default generic block pattern. It would be convenient if the header image file(s) could have their name(s) changed to accomodate that.
