Map Description
In an age of interstellar piracy and exploration, mining companies strive for control of sectors filled with lucrative minerals and gases. Wild pilots from the colonies enlist to make their fortunes taming the starry wilderness and defending their employer's claims from rival companies. You will assume the role of a Sector Manager for one of the many mining operations in a densely packed debris field loaded with platforms ripe for plunder.
Sector 1038, a debris field made up of the remnants of a destroyed defensive platform is packed full off profitable goodies. Every platform is bursting with valuable gases from destroyed pipelines. Known as much for its dangers as much as its treasure, 1038 is an unforgiving death trap of challenges. There are left over defensive systems from before this platform's destruction, as well as roving bands of pirates and unknown life forms. Intel suggests there could be up to five other companies in this sector, so proceed with caution.
Instructions
GC was born of my want to create a space version of Diplomacy: Empires and as such features very similar concepts.
Refineries grant you 1 mineral per second. Minerals are used to create structures, gas is used to make units.
Using CC-float you can take other platforms after clearing whatever defenses you find on them.
The same units you have to mass to take platforms are countered by air-attack-only units. If your army composition is not strategic, you will lose.
When all enemies command 0 CCs, you win.
Vessels
Name: Hover-Hammer
Unit: SCV
Usage: A small hover-craft, it specializes in construction and mining operations. Has no offensive value.
Name: Sparrow Fighter
Unit: Wraith
Usage: A stealthy light fighter, capable of cloaking itself from unfriendly eyes. It has a light payload of basic laser and missile systems. Good for small engagements and securing platforms from turrets.
Name: Betawing
Unit: Scourge
Usage: Little more than a remote missile with wings, this cheap but effective weapon turns masses of ships into debris.
Name: Watcher
Unit: Science Vessel
Usage: A support craft with a variety of indirect defensive and offensive systems. It can detect hidden fighters, as well as shock all the energy from their cloaking fields. In addition it can add defensive power to other ships or send a powerful shot of radiation at a target enemy.
Name: Rattlesnake
Unit: Hero Wraith
Usage: A more refined fighter than the light Sparrow, this cloaking harasser packs a mean punch. Although on their own they are not a large threat, when in numbers or accompanied by heavier ships, they can be quite venomous.
Name: K-Class Cruiser
Unit: Hyperion
Usage: A light class cruiser. It has a stronger hull than most fighters but a slower, albeit stronger, compliment of energy weapons.
Name: Valyarian Frigate
Unit: Valkyrie
Usage: Spearheading an interstellar conflict is hard enough, and its harder if the air around you is filled with the smoke trails of missiles exploding around you. This missile frigate is equipped with a strong hull and explosive rocket pods that can make even the strongest of ships think twice before engaging.
Name: Thor-class Warship
Unit: Mutalisk
Usage: When you need to eliminate every possible enemy ship in the quadrant, few ships are as up to the task as a Thor-class. A large and fast moving craft, its shrapnel-like projectiles tear through enemy hulls before continuing to the next target.
Name: Aphex Heavy Frigate
Unit: Devourer
Usage: When capital ships start appearing, most fighters and frigates run for cover. Aphex Manufacturing however, decided the biggest isn't always the baddest, and set out to prove a point. This frigate is armed with a specialized autocannon, firing large projectiles that turn large plates of armor into scrap.
Name: G-Class Cruiser
Unit: Battlecruiser
Usage: Although it is the intended prey of the Aphex, a Galaxy Class Cruiser is nothing to sneeze at. These titans are heavily armored and armed. Platform defenses are laid to waste and smaller fighters and frigates are scrap after a meeting with these cruisers.
Name: Fletcher Orbital Cannon
Unit: Guardian
Usage: Despite having no anti-air capabilities the Fletcher is a very useful and unique unit. Little more than a set of wings and thrusters grafted to a Gamma-class torpedo launcher, its ability to range platform defenses make expansion and invasion quite a lot easier.
Name: Viper
Unit: Scout
Usage: The Viper is the Rattlesnake's bigger, badder cousin. With heavier armor and weapons than a standard fighter, it can be used to hold larger ships at bay or assault heavier platform defenses.
Name: Cobra
Unit: Hero Scout
Usage: Quite possibly one of the most elite fighters in the galaxy, the Cobra is the Viper's bigger, badder cousin. Sporting armor and weapons usually fit for a much larger cruiser, its salvos can turn lesser fleets into debris fields.
Name: Skipper
Unit: Corsair
Usage: When trying to keep packs of small fighters at bay, the biggest gun is not always the answer. The Skipper's Ion-field Cannon creates small disruptions around the primary target, distorting the plating of nearby ships and pulling them apart. A group of these can take entire squadrons on and ask for more.
Name: Psiblade
Unit: Arbiter
Usage: The Psiblade is not the most well-armed of ships, nor is its hull particularly thick. Instead it boasts a number of generators that hum within, creating heavy shielding, wormholes, and even stasis fields to put entire fleets on ice. Any commander foolhardy enough to disregard these ships will soon come to regret it.
Name: Hive Class Destroyer
Unit: Carrier
Usage: Seldom seen outside of major inter-galactic conflicts, a Hive Class ship is meant for one purpose only: Deliver a payload of lightning fast fighters and cripple anything that stands in the way of victory. It boasts some of the strongest armor and shielding units available.
