I order you to forgive yourself!

Everyday, we browse the internet, reading random stuff all around the place. By now, we should be professional readers! Take the reading test, and find out your reading speed!

I have no idea what to put here... So I guess I'll just put this here.

427 words per minute. I am okay with this.

Feb 24 2014, 5:11 pm rayNimagi Post #4

484 words per minute, which is about the speed of the average college student, so I'd say that's accurate. However, I don't feel like I comprehended the material very well when I read that fast. I'd have to slow down if I wanted to remember everything in more detail.

Win by luck, lose by skill.

262 I am an idiot :O

Just kidding, I think I'm just bad at reading.

EDIT: did it again, I got 283 words per minute this time. IM GETTING BETTER!

I had 355 but I felt like I was taking my time on that. Gonna try again for speed.

Edit: 582 but I wouldn't be able to sustain that speed for long.

Apparently you can change these at the top right (the setting icon):

1. The font size (size 20 is the max. It helped me, at least)
2. The number of paragraphs (15 is the max)

With both of these all the way up, I got 577 wpm and all 6 questions right :D I'm not as stupid as I thought! lol

Holy cow, 4700 words per minute is the world fastest reader? How in hell is that possible while still retaining the information you just read in your head!?

My first try: 312
Second: 396
Third: 373

But really, I wouldn't be able to read at that speed any of the philosophy books I have been reading lately.
That is a speed related to fiction type of books, I would guess.

You read 428 words per minute.
That makes you 71% faster than the national average.
Below average college student. ;o I think that's pretty good for somebody who never reads the kind of material given in the test. :P

Interesting, I can also read faster with bigger sized fonts. Didn't think that had an effect on my reading experience.

It's called speed reading, what you do is remove the useless words like a, the, and, or, etc. You pretty much blur the sentences together and it's more like looking at an image, than reading the words one by one. You were never taught speed reading?

Woah, that seems kinda high to me.

Apparently not, fuck you college kids. All I got is a high school diploma.

Pffft, now way.

Holy shit, I could read LotR in a day? Yeah I am going to call bullshit.

Then I saw this, that's actually believable. I had to read that and write a report on it in Junior High, teacher gave us a month. Did it in a night so I could play more StarCraft.

EDIT:

Took it again because I still thought it was bullshit, maxed out the paragraphs and reduced the font size.

Guess I am a fast reader after all.

Still Napping

I seem to read around 280.

The rest of you are too fast for little ole me. Then again I was always a slow reader. When I read novels and such I always visualize in my mind what's being described, but I don't know if anyone else does that or if it's normal or not. Eventually it just feels like I float off and I'm not even reading at all.

That's what happens to me after a couple of chapters of "sprinting" my reading. I slow down to a relative crawl and then I read a page or two, then realize I have no idea what I just read.

Oh no I'm still reading it, I could tell you what exactly happened, it just feels as though I'm watching a movie instead of reading a book.

That happens to me a lot. Honestly it's one of my favorite sensations and I used to walk to Borders to sit there and read all day because of it. I would usually finish an entire book by the time the store closes. ^^
