I think the reactor blowout is getting you. Do you see a red 'danger' in the top left? You have to not play in hardcore mode to see it.
Basically just get to shelter when you start hearing that nasty sound and 'danger' appears, you can either walk into some shelters or Use (Wraith in Starport) around entrances.

This is a big mechanic throughout the map, whatever you're doing you'll have to break it up to jump into shelter periodically. (and see what's lurking in there too)

The map requires me to read the mission briefing carefully, but the briefing just ends before I can even read something and the game automatically starts. When I first played the map, I even had a problem what the number choices mean.

I had this problem too. Well, I don't think I was well informed about this. Perhaps I could've been informed of this during dialogues, but anyways I didn't see any messages like that when I first played this map. I talked to some random people and heard what they said, but none of them (or the game system) talked about what I'm supposed to do when 'DANGER' sign appears. Maybe you should put a clear notice about that?

I don't know of any glitches that end mission briefings prematurely and randomly start the game, maybe someone else can help with this..
Still you should read this thread, or the documentation that's included with the game archive, the map is hairy enough that no exposition can tell you all of it, or if it did it would ruin the atmosphere.

Maybe if you play in normal mode, during the first blowout the player character should remark to themselves that it needs to find a shelter, I can add that I guess.

Alright I see. I read the post before, but wasn't thinking of it carefully when I actually played it.. :P (Well, in fact, I confused it between some other maps. I didn't remember that this was the map that required the player to hide in shelters.) Now I'm trying it again to see if there's something else I missed before...

Oh and, the mission briefing doesn't end as soon as it starts... it ends when the first message disappears and the second message appears. Try to watch the briefing to the end, and you'll definitely see what I mean.

I just watched it today and it works fine. Must be something......version-specific maybe?

Try this file if you want, the briefing might have been fixed, you don't have to read all of it since the documentation has the same info.

I think you should replace the trigger to ''X player drops mines at X location'' and then make both mines and barricades explode.

EDIT: Though, the map is simply amazing, it's very entertaining indeed.I may post a Youtube video about the tutorial.

Oh hey.
The thing is you need a "Minelayer Tool" to lay mines, same way you need the Hack Tool to hack and the Effraction Tool to use vehicles, simply dropping mines is just so you can share them with other players in multiplayer.
You'll see mines will actually activate and attack a hidden enemy to blow up the barricade, just be careful to place them close enough to the barricade. All this stuff is in the documentation btw but it is a pretty long read I admit.
