Walkthrough

?

With the empire ready to crumble, the gates of Oblivion open and demons
march upon the land. You must find the lost heir to the throne and unravel
the sinister plot that threatens to destroy all of Tamriel.

(¯`·._(¯`·._( Gameplay )_.·´¯)_.·´¯)

The game starts by allowing you to custom design your hero. You distribute 14
stat points and choose 2 passive skills.

Once you enter the world, you can choose to continue your
main quest, or
you can explore different regions and level up your character, which will help
you with your main quest later.

The focus of the game is the
battle system. There are many different ways to design
your character and prepare him for battle. You must carefully choose your
skill list, and determine how to best spend and earn cash. You can throw cash
on spells, items, or damage upgrades. Personal skills are attained through levels.

(¯`·._(¯`·._( Key Features )_.·´¯)_.·´¯)

  • Lots of big quests.
  • Awesome and very challenging boss fights

[collapse Conjuration spells]
  • Incinerate - Massive explosion, killing all biological enemies in sight.

  • Frosty Blast - Freezes enemies in a small radius and deals damage over time.

  • Summon Goblins - Summons 3 Hydralisks.

  • Summon Mammoth - Summons an Ultralisk.

  • Summon Lich - Summons a High Templar.

  • Summon Dwarven Spider - Summons a Dragoon.
[/collapse]

  • Healing Potion - Recovers full health.

  • Life Potion - Revives a fallen ally.

  • Medicine - Heals 120HP over 7 seconds.

  • Remedy - Redeems 50 magicka.

  • Soul Kiss - Instantly recovers full health & magicka.
[/collapse]
(¯`·._(¯`·._( Boss Fights )_.·´¯)_.·´¯)

[collapse Mythic Dawn Leader]
  • Heal Wounds - Summons a Medic for 7 seconds.

  • Mythic Dawn Agents - Summons 3 Marines.

You will face this boss 3 times. She's fairly easy to kill. Just watch out for
those Marines early game. They each deal 24 damage p/s.
[/collapse]
[collapse Goblin Shaman]
  • Defile - Reduces armor by 10.

  • Crippling Pollen - Stops you from casting spells.

  • Goblins - Summons 3 Hydras.

This guy is more difficult than the last boss. The lurker damage is 108 per hit.
However, he only hits when he's still. The best way to kill him is to summon
ranged units and have him chase your hero whilst the ranged units attack.
[/collapse]
[collapse Dwarven Centurion Master]
  • Bombardment - Unleashes firey explosions, dealing 100 damage each.

  • Exothermic Blast - Area stun (3.75 seconds).

  • Spheres - Summons 2 Goliaths.

  • Mud Crabs - Creates a Spider Mine near your hero. Deals 500 damage.

Be really careful now. The physical damage on this boss isn't too bad, but his
spells are deadly. If you see a Spider Mine, either kill it or run. Don't go
near him when his explosives are going off.
[/collapse]
[collapse Orthe]
  • Primal Roar - Reduces armor by 20.

  • Imprisonment - Creates a blockade of gates, trapping you in.

  • Enrage - Forces you to attack for 5 seconds.

  • Goblins - Summons 3 Hydras.

Orthe's physical damage is pretty heavy. You'll want lots of armor and heals
against this guy. Hint: if he traps you with gates, you can use a High Templar
summon to storm away the gates.
[/collapse]
[collapse Mankar Camoran]
  • Dancing Blades - Summons an invisible DT at your position.

  • Iron Armor - Invincibility for 3 seconds.

  • Torturous Rocket - Targeted stun for 5 seconds.

  • Barrage - Creates a series of Vultures.

Secret: there's an Armor Totem underneath the bridges, to the right. Go there
before fighting him, it gives you +20 armor for 30 seconds.
[/collapse]
[collapse Mehrunes Dagon]
  • Impellent Burst - Kills summons and stuns heroes for 7.5 seconds.

  • Static Charge - Unleashes explosions in 4 directions.

  • Oak Flesh - Raises armor by +20 for 6 seconds.

  • Goblin Berserkers - Summons 4 hero Hydras.

  • Minotaur Lord - Summons an Ultralisk.

  • Phantasm - Splits body into 4.

  • Suicidal Blast - Orders Dragoons to run towards you and explode. Deals 100 damage each.

Mehrunes Dagon! This is what you've been waiting for all game! This guy is real
tough. He has 19400 HP. His physical damage isn't too bad, but he casts spells
every 9 seconds. Some of these spells will really mess you up. Watch out for his
area stun spell, you'll need to have a spell shield or Remedy Potion with "Purified"
upgrade to counter it. Take in loads of Healing Potions and keep nuking him with
your best spells.
[/collapse]

Awesome! Try to get 2 friends to play with you as well, its much more fun with allies, and if you die, you can get an ally to recover you. Also, before you play, read the advice I gave on the file download page. Let me know how you go.

An artist's depiction of an Extended Unit Death

I'm always happy to see a map officially move from production to showcase; congratulations! It looks like it's as feature-packed as you had originally planned as well.

Might be hard for me to do this with my current setup (I have technical issues playing with multiple people on Bnet right now). I assume playing solo is just like being on hard mode?

Its possible to complete on single player, it just takes longer and you'll have to be more careful. But then again, you have the advantage of extra gold and extra XP, which is shared in multiplayer games. My friend actually completed it in single player and he said it took him 5 hours. I think you could do it faster though if you plan your character build correctly.

Any time in particular? I might be able to join in if it's at a good time for me.

Completed in single player in 1 hour 33 minutes. I thrown stats on "Luck" and got rich fast. Bought spells "Vampires", "Dwarvern Spider", "Mage Armor", and "Mage Light". Got my health up to 800 and full upgrades by end of the game.

Lol use the 'Fast Travel' feature to escape hordes of enemies.

Jul 14 2013, 9:57 pm Zacharee Post #11

but in real obvlivion you can't fast travel with enemies nearby! thats cheating :P starting with war master and alchemist, then putting myself in a corner when faced with the hordes of rats was much more satisfactory

I played with Jack and some other dude. Had a great time with it; it had so many features. Literally so many combos of spells and passives etc. I felt like I've only gotten a glimpse at this game's full potential, even after completing it fully.

The link above is a stream of the game start to finish.

I will definitely be playing this again with friends, this has got to be up there with one of the best RPGs ever IMO. And pushed out in such a short timespan. That is some serious skill right there.

>be faceless void >mfw I have no face

I had great fun playing this, golondrin Ohman and I completed it and it was pretty cool. The best part of it in my opinion is the stats and items systems, which felt polished and well-designed. On a negative note the actual RPG part of it could have been better; the combat wasn't particularly exciting until the last few bosses; the map felt pretty small even though it was 256x256 because of how wide open most of the terrain was and because of the speed of the zealots (maybe intentional though :P). It also lacked the elder scrolls "feel" where you can do all sorts of side quests and explore random things. I would have liked to see some alchemy in it, too, and the spellcasting "route" wasn't really viable compared to being tanky. No quest journal meant it was sometimes hard to work out what we were supposed to be doing if we hadn't memorized bits of text.

Luck is OP ;D so much gold.

While there's a bunch of negative things said there it was in general a positive experience, the polish was for the most part spot on, didn't have any bugs that fast travel couldn't solve. The underlying systems were spot on and with a bit more work done on the actual gameplay and story, I think it would be close to 10/10 in my book. Well done!

Thanks for streaming guys, it's actually the best possible form of feedback. I'm currently working on my next RPG (Skyrim) and I'm taking all your thoughts into account. Skyrim will have a music track, much better balancing, trading items is possible, and random items will be scattered on the map as you suggested. Also, I'm removing the Luck attribute, but items are cheaper. I'll be posting in Map Production soon, so stay tuned!

:omfg: Wow. I just got back into SC1 recently and decided to start searching for RPG maps that have come out since I took my extended leave of absence. I've only had a chance to start a solo session for about 30 minutes on this map, but I'm already absolutely blown away! Excellent, excellent work here. I'll post more detailed impressions when I get a chance to really dig into it later tonight or tomorrow.

I'm so grateful that we still have talented mapmakers like MetalGear around. I was worried that I'd come back to SC1 and find it to be completely dead, but these StarEdit forums are giving me a glimmer of hope.
