As no one wants to host until after the holidays I was wondering if you guys would like to play a "speed like you're on crack" mafia with me...or as I like to call it, a regular mafia...because when you play in a room full of people you usually aren't playing for longer than a couple of hours. As such, 90% of game play won't happen in a SEN Thread, but actually my synchtube channel (because SEN is too mainstream). This is how the game would go:

1. Sign Up in this thread and determine a time (before the holidays as to not interfere with future mafia games)...sign up is more for a general idea of how many want to play. Oh, determine a movie you want to watch; anything on youtube will suffice - even music.
2. On the night and at the correct time, sign on to the Synchtube Channel. You don't need an account - but either tell me and the players what your alias is or else use your SEN name. Anonymous members or members not playing will be muted and or kicked. Do not impersonate other members of SEN, past or current.
3. When all of the players arrive (I'm not going to wait forever) I will distribute roles via PM. I will tell you at this point how many townspeople, mafia, detectives and nurses there are. Mafia will know who the other mafia are.
4. When role PMs have been sent the first night will start. The night ends when all players with roles have submitted their actions to me via PM:
Nurse: Save [Member Name] - if member is hit by mafia and by the nurse, the nurse saves that player.
Detective: Check [Member Name] - Tells the Detective if a player is mafia. Detectives and Nurses do not need to be in consensus - two detectives can scope out two different targets.
Mafia: Hit [Member Name] - All members of mafia must come to a consensus on who they want to hit. If they don't, I will choose the first mafia hit submitted or the majority vote (if two vote Azrael and one votes Demon, regardless of order, Azrael will be hit)
Townmember: Nadda. Nothing - Zilch.
5. During the day I will report any deaths or saves. Detectives will receive a PM from me stating whether their target is mafia in "yes" or "no" fashion. So, if the detective(s) select the nurse, they will receive simply a "no."
6. During the day the floor is opened up to the town, where they can discuss who they think they should lynch. It is in the detective's court to suggest a lynch target - whether or not they preface that with "I'm a detective" is up to them. There isn't as much time for organization, so proceed with caution.
7. After two or three candidates have been chosen (unless the town unanimously selects a target) I will run a poll. You may vote only once and your first vote is the one that counts.
8. After the lynch, I will inform the town as to whether they got a nurse, detective, townsperson, or mafia. Then we repeat.

I will be updating the thread on a regular basis too so that the people at home can follow along.

This is a little different. Due to the lack of organization in a system that runs so fast, the win conditions are a little different:

MAFIA WINS WHEN ONLY MAFIA IS LEFT STANDING

TOWN WINS WHEN ONLY TOWN IS LEFT STANDING

I think you shouldn't report saves, because that gives a public clear. If no one dies, just say that no one died. The nurse will know the clear, but that person will not be publicly outed.

I'm not familiar with this mechanic, could you elaborate (specifically the highlighted text)?

If there's more than one nurse they won't know who was targeted - and it adds more color to the game.

Well, the detective is not the only one who suggests the lynch, but as he is the only one who will have any certain evidence one way or another it'll fall on him to report what he finds stealthy. Maybe what I should say is that it doesn't do any good for the town to withhold information without strategy - if a detective finds a member of mafia, he should do what he can to convince the town that this is a wise candidate during the day. At the same time, a vocal detective might get himself killed...it adds another layer of behavioral analysis, as there won't be time to analyze other methods usually used.

That's the point.

EDIT:
ray's point is that if you announce that someone was saved publicly, that person is then known to not be Mafia to everyone. And even if you announce saves in private, you make it incredibly easy for the Town to band together while the Mafia can only hit one per night. Just seems like this would be near impossible for Mafia to win.

Not in, but added to the list of Mafia games.

Unless more people sign up today it probably won't happen, in which case I'll wait until I can do the traditional mafia after you and raitaki do yours...or at the end of the list that is currently going.

he asked for the length of the days. And with stuff he's likely referring to music or shows which you will be passing your time when there's nothing to do during night or whatever.

Day length = day is done when the town has voted. If someone goes afk for a long period of time they are forfeiting their vote for the day.
