I don't really know if this is the correct thread but...
Whenever I'm in multiplayer mode for Local Area Network support, whenever I try to change the game mode, StarCraft crashes...
None.

It shouldn't crash, obviously. Is this on the latest patch? If not, upgrade to the latest patch and try again.
If you continue to have problems, backup your maps folder and reinstall SC. This should hopefully fix the issue.
My version is at 16.1. That's the latest version, isn't it?
None.

Yes it is; if you try to connect to Battle.net on an older patch, it will try to update you automatically, anyway.
Sounds like you should try reinstalling.
I haven't really reinstalled before so how do I go about doing that?
By the way, is it possible that the modding that I did many times on the computer cause that to happen?
None.
Go to the Starcraft folder in your start menu and click on "Uninstall Starcraft" (or go to My Computer and click Uninstall Programs [for Windows 7]), and then just reinstall it through the disc. If you don't have your disc/cd key but registered your key online, just go to
battle.net and download the game through that. You probably have some corrupted file that will get fixed once you reinstall.
Wait, I fixed it. I just changed the name for the StarCraft executable to "starcraft" and not anything else.

That *should* not fix anything unless you're using 3rd party programs. Can you definitely connect the renaming to a stable experience and can you reproduce that always when you name it to whatever it was before it crashes?
The game mode I had on initially was KBK Singles, probably that third party program only recognised "starcraft" as the name. So when I clicked on it, it would be unable to load and crashes. That's what I think.
None.
If you don't have your disc/cd key ...
... Use this:
