And it'd be nice if they weren't very sparse or ridiculously hidden
No it wouldn't. That isn't Mafia at all. If you want Roy to tell you who the Mafia are, instead of figuring it out, then you shouldn't play. The only objective in Mafia is to figure out who the Mafia are. Having the host tell you doesn't enrich that experience, it cheapens it.
You would be better off just PMing him after the game starts and having him tell you who the Mafia are. That way you get the benefit of having the host tell you, and the actual players get the benefit of being able to play.
You should be aware that Roy already stated the clues he uses here will be so convoluted that no one will figure them out, and with good reason.
We can't explain the universe, just describe it; and we don't know whether our theories are true, we just know they're not wrong. >Harald Lesch
And again you ignored a large portion of a post in order to make a point...
Like I said, you should be aware that Roy already stated the clues he uses here will be so convoluted that no one will figure them out, and with good reason. You said you would only play if there were clues, but these aren't the kind of clues that are going to give you direct information about who is guilty. As long as you're aware of that, then you should be good to go.

Thanks for implying that I can't even read posts when in fact it's you that didn't read properly. Roy said that "his current resolution" is that he's going to use a few high difficulty clues. He also said that this policy is not official until the poll is removed. So still time presenting points of view.
Also I have the suspicion he said that partly in order to favor you and make you play his game. Since you won't play with any level of clues this shouldn't be a reason anymore.

Right, but I wanted to be sure that you're willing to play regardless. If not, you should inform Roy before roles are sent out.

I doubt that was his reasoning, considering that even he voted against clues.
I'd play if the clues followed the 5 requirements for fair clues which I mentioned earlier, as a show of compromise. As Roy has said before though, there's no way to do that here unless he adds Researcher or some equivalent, since otherwise there are too many normal Townies.
Azrael, if you like, we can simply call the game something besides "Mafia." You reiterate over and over and over that Mafia + Clues != Mafia, so would that solve everything if we just called it say, "Murder In The Town!" or something else?
None.
I stand by "Heads Up Seven Up for adults".

I've removed the clue poll. This is the conclusion I've reached after listening to the discussions from the players of this game in addition to the results of players' votes in the poll:
Clues
1. There will be clues in this game that point to members of the mafia.
2. Clues will primarily be based on immutable details relating to the player to which it refers.
3. Clues will have a balance between difficulty of solving and ambiguity. That is, an easier clue will be less convincing through ambiguity, and a harder clue will be less convincing through the means of reaching the conclusion.
4. The average clue in this game is aimed to be more difficult than those from a typical game.
This has been added near the bottom of the original post. I would like at this time for discussion on clues belonging in mafia games to cease in this thread, as it is no longer relevant here.

Quote from A concerned player
Can you be any more specific about "immutable" clues?
Sure thing. First, I said "primarily based" as opposed to "strictly based" because clues may not necessarily always be on something that cannot change. For example, player names can technically be changed, but I do not expect this to happen during my game (and I'd greatly appreciate it if you inform me before-hand if you are planning this, so I can be prepared to update everything accordingly). Avatars and signatures are certainly not off limits, either, even though these can be easily changed; players should be watching for others changing these mid-game and include this factor in their behavioral analysis.
That being said, though, clues will generally involve information regarding the player or that characterize the player, or reflect their contributions to the site. I will consider things that have not changed for great durations to be immutable for the scope of this game.
I'm purposefully leaving this vague and flexible to give freedom to both myself and players regarding clue interpretations.

Yeah, it's "behavioral analysis" to lynch someone for changing their avatar or signature, on the assumption they probably changed it because, somewhere, the host told everyone that the person is Mafia.
Seems legit

As a reminder, sign-ups close in just under 24 hours. Activity checks will be sent immediately following; there will be no last-chance sign-ups during the activity check process.
Sign me up. Thinking about this, I'm likely to end up as a Townsfolk, so not much time commitment required for that.
None.
Hardware failure took my laptop out of commission temporarily; I am not sure if I can respond to the activity check tomorrow. However, I'll definitely be able to participate in Mafia in the days immediately following. Will I still be disqualified on the basis of not responding to the activity check, in the event that it occurs?
None.

The activity check will span across two days with a day extension if more than 10% (3 players) have not responded, if that's any reassurance. Please do your best to respond to it.
Oh, and to all players: now would be a great time to make sure you have space in your PM inbox to send and receive messages.
Edit: You should all have received an activity check at this point. Please respond by Friday, October 26th, 11:59PM EDT.
