No, but this was the 4 result on google for "mpq library". Probably others around too, thanks to the popularity of WoW.

I have Windows 7 x64 and I just tried Tinymap2 (1.0.6) and it works perfectly (all menus and functions work). This is on normal DPI and themes disabled.
The link to the new one is broken.

The problem is compressing some maps that contain sound in them. Farty has seen it himself on his new W7 laptop.

The only thing I've changed really was making the Block Size a variable instead of constant. And I've never seen menus not work. :P

Not even. It's pretty much random.. In my tests it was scenario.chk that crashed most often.


And to test it I just successfully opened a random map and compressed it. (Win7x64)

EDIT:
Oh, also I never got rid of dbg.log ... Look for that, and you can see what it crashes on.

EDIT2:
The thing I don't understand the most is why it works sometimes, but not other times, when I do the same things:
1. Run the program
2. Immediately press "Open"
3. Choose Rush
4. Save
Works like one out of 3 times... Seems to work more when I set Compatibility mode to "Windowx XP (SP2)" and "Disable desktop composition", but that might just be coincidence.

Setting compatibility mode options made no difference for me in the past.

Also the newer versions of my map where I changed the intro sound file pretty much never crash now, when the older versions used to crash about 9/10 times. Anyway I've posted various times throughout this thread with my observations of the issue (compressing a Blizzard melee map seems to 'reset' the issue, etc).

Still crashes when I click save on Vista. I noticed that before, even when it crashes, it saves the map but with only like a few kb but now it compresses the map but corrupts it too

So this has started screwing up on my map, but in a very interesting way:
  • The Newer version I have which has the block sizes and is from this thread crashes. It crashes and creates a file that is 88k, likely just the sound files.
  • The Debugger version I have that Farty sent me via message also crashes and creates a file that is 88k.
  • But my older version (from this thread) works fine with the same map file. I want to use the newer versions thought because they create a smaller map.

So there's something weird going on with the specific application that is using the library somehow? Like there's some weird caching or hashing going on. And this only happens on W7/Vista and not XP.

Also I discovered with the newer versions, if I save the map as Melee instead of UMS then it works fine. So I'm not sure it's so simple as being the library that's screwing up - maybe when you create the stripped .chk file for some reason the library sometimes rejects it?

Edit: compressing using Type 1 in the newer version works. It's looks like it's about 1kb bigger than it would have been with type 2, but that's close enough. Better than 16k bigger if I used the older version.

Just here to say THANKS for updating this! TinyMap is the best compression utility, and now it's even better making use of Preserve Triggers flag :) Still gotta try this on my new Win7 machine when/if I ever got to SC mapping again!

There is some bug that I've yet to identify with Windows 7 where it will randomly stop working when writing the file ... I have no idea why it happens because doing nothing differently and trying again may work.

If you'd like you can PM me the map and I can see if it is something specific to that map, or just another case of this bug.

I probably wont change what tm2 does much. :P And it's already an option if tm2 does anything to the wavs.

Got my fingers cross here. I kicked some bug. It was a minor thing in sfmpqapi that had to do with memory allocating and freeing ...

Try your map with this and let me know what you get. I still have the debug log enabled.

ShadowFlare said she'd look into it, so hopefully I can get an official sfmpqapi fix in a little bit.
When I get a new sfmpqapi source available I'll upload a new official build.

I'll give this one a shot. I remember using the older one and it alterring some damage stats of one of the ghost units on my map (gave it like 758692 dmg or something ridiculous like that). Not sure if that was part of the bug you fixed. Running Windows 7
