Okay so, I have a map where there is a scourge, and it is given to multiple players throughout the game. I want players to be able to hotkey the scourge. For a while this works, when the scourge is given to player 2 and given back to player 1 for example, player 1 still has his hotkey. The scourge is shared by all players of the map. For whatever reason, at some point in the game the hotkeys are no longer there. The scourge is the same scourge throught the game. It is given to all players at different points, it is moved by locations at certain points, that's about it. I just don't understand at what point it is losing its hotkey. Any help greatly appreciated!

Starcraft engine limitation, unsolvable sorry.

Also I presume you mean unit group binding, eg ctrl-1 etc.

Not sure if this will work in your map specifically, but it could be possible to fake it being the same unit.

For instance, you could give each person their own scourge, and allow them to hotkey it. Then when you want to give the scourge to someone else, you move the current person's scourge to the edge of the map, and move the new person's scourge to where the other person's scourge was.

For additional realness, you could use map revealers owned by a computer player to reveal the playing area to the players with shared vision, and force the players to turn off shared vision to themselves, so they can't see their scourge when it's been moved to the edge of the map.

Additionally, you could use EUD selection detection to tell when a player selects his scourge while it's at the edge of the map (which he'd do by hitting his hotkey), and immediately give the scourge to the computer and then back to the player in the same trigger (which I believe will retain the hotkey for the unit). Alternatively, you could just keep giving the scourges to the computer and back to the player, regardless of if they are being selected, just to make them deselect it that much faster.

Not sure if any of that is actually useful for what you're attempting to accomplish, though.

No that wouldn't work at all for what is going on, good ideas though, thanks.

The way this works is to hot key the unit you want, and ONLY press that hot key when you have ownership of that unit. If you try and use the hotkey while someone else owns the unit, then your hotkey will be lost.

Hope that helps.
