Proposition: Change ;D from ;
D to :wink:
This has been brought up a thousand times, lots of good reason for changing it, none for not changing it.
I'm curious if public opinion on this has changed at all, so I've included a poll.
but i like smileys with a solid wall of enamel embedded in their mouths:
D and ;
D imply mouths ajar, which I do not see with the current set.
None.
I figured
can just be
because it looks fine that way lol, and thus ;D can be moved to :wink: in case you want to do a creepy wink.
If
should be ;
) because it looks like a wink, then I don't see why ;D can't stay as is. If you guys don't like it, don't use it.

Anyone who voted before, re-vote. There was an error when I edited the poll's options, so a new one had to be made.

I find the new vote option does not adequately represent my position on this topic, which is "pudding".
None.
I totally agree. I use ;
D a, lot, and it sucks having to type out those brackets... I don't even know how to type a bracket, and have to look at my keyboard each time.
Just incase someone doesn't understand, I don't hate picture ;D, but I LOVE ASCII ;
D. Ideally we should not lose ease of user of any ASCII emotes.

Okay, except we
do like ;
D. It's a pretty common text emote.
There is nothing in the options to allow us to turn off automatic changing of ;
D to ;D
I would rather say, if you "guys" do like ;D, then continue to use it as :wink: or :creep: or some other similar thing.
Also,
;D should be renamed to :rapistface:.
This.
I literally cringe every time I type ;
D without realizing it and get ;D staring back at me.

Apos made the ;D face, so if anything, it should be changed to
. Not that I really think smilies are worthy of a discussion: it's a trivial discussion for a trivial change of a trivial feature.
And I'd put money on someone asking "Why is there no ;
D smiley?" somewhere down the line if we were to remove it (similar to how Raccoon was asking for a <3 smiley).

That seems fair.
(similar to how Raccoon was asking for a <3 smiley)
Which he didn't get, because everyone also loves <3 and changing it would be </3.

This sums up my feeling as well.

I've actually never seen anyone use that emote aside from here at SEN. Hmm. How about someone redesign the smiley (...
again...)? Wasn't the original a combination of
and
and people complained about that as well?
Any of these any better?

Why do we need ;
D to turn into a smiley automatically? Judging from the poll, there's at least twice as many people who dislike it enough to vote against it as there are those who would rather keep it.
It's also interesting to note that the people currently voting "no" are the people who either never or almost never use it, whereas the people who use it the most are voting "yes".
It doesn't seem to be such a trivial matter when the number of people who "don't care" aren't outnumbering the people who do care and want it changed back to its proper state.
And if it was so trivial, I don't understand why it has to be petitioned against multiple times by various people for anything to be done. If it was so trivial, couldn't something that bothers such a large percentage of the community simply be changed? Isn't this a change that would take approximately sixty seconds?
I simply don't understand why this is being made into such a big deal
The people who use ;
D just don't want to have to type 9 characters to do so.
;D is a custom smiley anyways, it should get a custom name like all the other custom smilies.
How about everyone just compromises and we make ;D into
as Roy suggested?

Basically what Roy said. We have smileys for most, if not all, emoticons.

As far as I know, it has been petitioned against twice, and the first time was to get the smiley changed to what it is now (which, despite the current negative response, seemed like it was accepted at the time). I don't think it bothers a large percentage of the community, especially if you consider that the amount of people who voted "No" or "Don't Care" don't seem to be bothered by it, and together they outnumber the "Yes."
At this rate, I just don't care anymore. If you guys don't like the alternatives I posted earlier, then screw it.
it is.
EDIT:
And closed.
