That's kind of how I felt when I hosted Mafia, and in Internet Congress. Every SEN game (no matter who is the host) has this problem to some degree. Mostly to a large degree.

You could have not allowed "No Lynch" voting. I voted that way because I have no idea who to vote for, so I figured there was no point in randomly choosing someone.

No matter what you follow that with, it's not an excuse; the "abstain" option is specifically available to say "Hey, I'm participating in this game, but I do not want to make an impact on this voting day." Not voting is a sign of inactivity or lack of participation.

Unless your strategy included feigning inactivity (which it obviously didn't, since you posted), you should have abstained to let the host know that it isn't just a miserable turn-out. And if you are feigning inactivity, you should let the host know.

Again, expecting us to definitely lynch someone on Day 1 is unrealistic. Unless someone produced useful evidence from their night actions, any lynches would be random and more likely to take out a townie than a mafia. What's the point of doing something that is more likely to hurt us than help us?

In other words, expecting us to act irrationally and then being upset when we don't isn't very rational on your part.

Maybe it's time zones, but not much was happening before I went to bed last night. I forgot to check in today at all. sorry about that.

Abstaining due to lack of evidence is one thing. People doing piss poor half assed clue analysis on the one clue post they currently have to look at is inexcusable. I've seen next to no clue interpretations and the ones I have seen are anything but in depth. Apparently no one's really interested in winning since no one of consequence has died yet. I'm sure that'll change tonight.

This makes me upset because I know I suck at clues, which is why I had Roy help. So that'd mean we both suck at this. D:

Welcome to Mafia hosting. I was getting frustrated when I hosted, too, but Roy reminded me that I had to just let things happen. You should keep that in mind as well. If people don't play the way you had hoped, so be it. I put a lot of effort into making my clues, and most of them were never found. It's just a simple fact at this point that if you don't just give out an easy clue, extensive clue analysis wont really happen. Also consider that your co-host is one of very few people who actually posts in-depth clue analysis.

This is a game of behavioral analysis, not clue analysis. The only way clues should come into play is by looking at how people choose to interpret them. No one should ever die or not die as a direct result of an intentional clue. It's a game in which you figure out who is guilty based on how they act or don't act, not on what mood the host happens to be in when he writes a post. What would be the point of playing if the Town is told by the host who is Mafia? It's not fun for Town, and it's not fun for Mafia, especially when Mafia can be exposed regardless of how well they play.

The outcome of the game should be determined by the players, not the host.

That being said, the clues shouldn't be a problem as long as they continue remaining abstract enough to not sentence Mafia players to death. It allows the ability for people to misinterpret clues to change vote outcomes, and gives everyone an "ah I see" moment at the end of the game.

I can't find anything either, but then again I'm with Azrael. Mafia tend to make themselves obvious as games drag on, regardless of how many there are.

Even still, it's less than two hours overdue. Chances are he's giving inactives time, which is kinda stupid, or writing a post. I don't expect Excalibur to simply stop a game without any explanation, especially considering he's a staffer and isn't really going anywhere.

At sunset the community had failed to make a proper choice. Now they saw the consequences for their actions.

Dem0nS1ayer lay face down in the gutter. A note, in the same cryptic script as the last one was left. 'By steam and iron I am resurrected, renewed, and revived. I no longer toil in games and theory. The time for action is at hand.'

The members stood in huddles of five or six, trying to gather information on who saw what last night. Strangely two figures talked alone on the side, one had a chest adorned with medals, and was responded to with 'Sir' by the other. In the groups, some had felt they were being watched or followed. One had been stalking a suspicious individual once again, but once again he became frustrated with the twists and turns, ducking under lines of code to follow his subject, and gave up. However on this night, another had successfully followed someone he considered suspicious, but observed him do nothing he wished to report. However something about his tone was unnerving. He saw or heard something he did not wish to tell those assembled, perhaps because he was unsure, or perhaps afraid of what he had found...

The message from this corpse was clear: Find The Watched and destroy them, before everyone ended up face down.
