I guess the point of a visit would be to take out someone of your choice, like a Vigilante that only gets to use his power once per game and it requires him to die and it's activated by another player (so like a Vig but much less powerful).

The point of the dodge is similar, to give you the chance to increase the casualties. The difference is that it only increases the chances of killing an additional Mafia member, rather than just anyone. If the dodge actually saves you, then it means you managed to use it when exactly one Mafia was targeting you. This increases the likelihood of having two Mafia members attack you on the following night, believing that you are protected.

A visit would be more fitting for the Bomb character, whereas a dodge could result in being more useful to the Town.

Another idea is to give him the Psycho ability if he's lynched, where he can target someone to take with him (the idea being he'd rather detonate than let himself be lynched, and runs at someone to kill them in the explosion). This seems pretty fitting for the character as well, and that way he poses a danger to the Mafia regardless of how he dies.

A visit action for the bomb would more then likely screw town over. The dodge action seems a bit unnecessary for a role that wants to get killed but it might work like AZ said and force mafia to double hit him.

Dodge is a one time use, so I'm not sure how they'd know to double hit the Bomb on the same night he uses it. It doesn't seem like there would ever be a double hit on a Bomb unless it was accidental.

After re-reading the above posts and then my response, I understand the idea that they would double up thinking it was a protected person. I still think that the chance of the Bomb getting hit in the same night the player decides to use Dodge is slim, but I can see the value in it. I also still think a visit action would be too detrimental to the Town, however. The Bomb is more likely to visit a fellow Townie than Mafia member early on, risking the chance of the Bomb causing unnecessary damage to the Town.

Well the point of the dodge for the bomb would probably to buy more time to make himself look more suspicious thus having more people targeting him.

I know what the point of it is, that's why I ended up adding it. My issue with this theory of him being more suspicious is that he'd have to know he was being targeted in the first place to buy himself more time. Seems like most of the time, Dodge is a crapshoot. I guess I'm also assuming/hoping that the Mafia members would be smarter than that.

Almost everyone who could use Dodge used it in my game at some point (~6 actions), and all of them were wasted. I'm thinking that the next time I host, the Bomb will just have a detonate action, which will blow himself and everyone targeting him up, instead of giving him the overly powerful passive.

Now if he had a choice between two night actions, either Dodge or Detonate (with Dodge having infinite uses) then I could see it.

Or if he had the current Detonate passive with two regenerating night lives, so the Mafia can choose to hit people singularly to avoid the power.

Just having a Detonate ability is about as likely to work as intended as Dodge is, if not less so since it has a good chance of killing Townies in the process. The only ways I could see the Bomb being able to detonate himself making any sense is if he could visit someone when he uses it, ot have an additional power to make up for his severely decreased usefulness, or be Mafia-aligned.

Otherwise, without at least one of those, just changing the passive to an active ability makes the Bomb less useful than a normal Townsperson, in which case it may be better to exclude the role entirely. I'm sure there are additional ways to rework it though.

Change bomb so that when he is killed, he detonates and everyone around him dies - meaning anyone targeting him + anyone he is visiting, anyone who is visiting him, and all the people targeting the person he is visiting. Give him the ability to visit. Also, add a tracker role.
