Ok so it's about time to apply to colleges, this topic needs to be re-brought up...
This topic also has more things now...
Alright, so, my mom basically said that I -have- to give engineering a chance. I asked why and she responded with saying that I would be very good at it due to me being gifted... (I don't care if you think I'm on a "high horse"... It's a factual statement, I have thinking processes and abilities that other people do not that put me at a big advantage, been tested by respected organizations. If you want to take it any farther I'll photocopy results). I would prefer to go to a college with both engineering and jazz studies because of this.
I could fight her on it, but I'd need a reason why, and I really don't know one. Honestly she was pretty pissed off when I brought it up with her again >>
I should probably explain -why- I want to do music (specifically jazz, at this point). I'm going to assume you all are of average music appreciation (which stems to very elementary classifications, such as "this sounds cool/pretty/sad/dubstep"). Music is something that has a degree of depth that very few people understand. Those people are only even a portion of musicians. And it's not an on/off switch, as should be obvious. It's a process. I can say with 100% certainty that my appreciation for music has increased tremendously over the past... two months even. Music is a whole other world to me, it's the most extreme intense feeling ever, and the most mentally challenging... Theory is not excluded from my interests either, its form is mathematical, and there will always be more to learn for the rest of my life. My desire is to perform, whatever that means. It could be on broadway or it could be with a band/jazz band setting.
Engineering is something that would fall fairly easily to me, there is going to be a job for me at the end of it simply because we need engineers, I will have money for it, and I love science and math, and would get to (hopefully) do "cool stuff", as my engineering/math friend says he does.
I am not gonna do audio engineering... no way no how.
If anyone has any college suggestions I welcome them!
