Anyone who thinks the UN is a widely applicable solution to all sorts of international problems needs a history lesson.

The question is, were those casualties worth liberating Iraq from Saddam's relentless reign?
Or is the question: Could we have made a peaceful resolution to solve these problems? I think that question is much more suitable.
Think of how much better off we would be if we worked with the UN, Saddam, and the Iraqi people to find peaceful solutions to such problems. If a country makes a gracious effort towards peace and understanding, there is no way another country would make an extravagant struggle against it.

We TRIED that! Hussein kept interfering with United Nations inspection units, which at the time was extremely suspicious and ominous. We told them to destroy the missiles, and they kept beating around the bush, hindering progress with stupid excuses and taking their sweet time. I'll try and find an article. Peace is not always the answer.
Are you serious? Now really, does ordering Iraq to destroy nuclear missiles that they don't have in the first place sound like "a gracious effort towards peace and understanding"?

Why don't you watch a History Channel documentary? Hussein was being uncooperative. He was also being a crummy leader.

That's such a Kellimus "argument". You are convincing yourself that you are right by not giving me an argument to rebut.

Interesting. I still believe, had the U.S. actually made "a gracious effort towards peace and understanding" that this could have been avoided.

I just realized you meant that towards me, and not what gunsolar90 said.

In that case, you misunderstand what I said. I never said to look towards the U.N. for solutions.

I can't stand it when the people on my side are worse than the ones I'm against.

If there's death in Iraq, the world has that much less humans to consume it's resources and pollute the atmosphere.

What's so touching is the way we fight the war right until the moment our business is taken care of and then we turn on a dime and we immediately start taking care of people. It's like a shock and aw shucks campaign.

This is how America acts. The Iraq war is no different. I rest my case.

We're just trying to help rebuild Iraq for the love of god. The soldiers know they're making progress. You always here news stories about soldiers who want to stay and finish what they started. Do what the people who are actually fighting want to do. In this war we have very few casualties in comparison to other wars. Remember what happened last time we removed our troops from a country because the country was being a dick and complaining? *Cough* Vietnam *cough, cough*.

What does this mean?! The soldiers' intentions were clear from the very strart. Eliminate terrorists and insurgents, search for WMDs, and establish a new government.
