Not sure if you're serious, but all the champs in LoL can be purchased from the points you earn from playing LoL. You don't have to pay any money at all for them.

My first impulse was the same, but mainly because of this sudden change. But then I realized
a) it wasn't free for some time where free players couldn't play at all. Time is money.
b) now free players have a rather meager hero and game mode pool
c) $10 isn't a lot of money for the continuing development and no ads.
So I wouldn't say I'm screwed, I'd call it premium account. However I'll admit that their last cheap accounts special was screwy because they didn't tell people what it buying now will mean in the near future. Who bought before that has no reason to feel abused.

In the F2P HoN, you still earn Silver Coins per match and they can be used just like Gold Coins, it just takes about 2-3x as much.

Can you buy skins in LoL simply by playing the game? No? Didn't think so. Besides, I paid for HoN when it was in fucking beta. Do you think I care? I regret nothing, superb game.

Yeah, I bought HoN for like $15 when they had some sale or shit on and I was at home, my main pc (running SC2) was at Uni. So I thought what the hell, why not.

I feel bad having only paid $15 for it. Time played / dollars spent = definite win.

I tried LoL a while ago and it burnt my eyes.

Yeah, HoN isn't that computer intensive, compared to other modern games (SC2)

My only issue with the new patch is the whole early access heroes thing. S2 said that by buying it you were guaranteed all of the playable heroes, which now isnt true due to people being able to buy them before they're officially released. They also said that the cash shop would never allow for new heroes and such in a way that would affect game balance in the slightest bit.

Now they suddenly go, "oh, now you can buy a hero that no one else can use and get an advantage!"

I'm calling bullshit on S2 and am seriously considering jumping on the dota2 bandwagon if they dont change something about this.

Also, the whole "people who bought the game are suckers" is stupid. You get all the new heroes (when they are officially released outside of the early access crap) and can play all the modes, and are able to play game modes without all of the really new players on the free accounts. id say if it werent for the EA thing, i'd be really happy about this patch.

Well, I'll be getting DotA 2 regardless of how well HoN does. That doesn't mean I'd stop playing HoN, especially if DotA 2 turns out to be worse. We'll see.


Well, the main LoL players started it by going into this thread AFAIK, so I don't really care.

Most of the LoL players started on HoN though, and our game got bashed the first 3 pages, when more people around here like it.

League uses more resources, honestly.

I think the servers are laggier now that HoN is F2P. Might just be my crappy Internet connection here though.

DotA was an economic bombshell waiting to happen. And it took ages for it to get to this stage. And, while the money-trail is diluted (IceFrog, GuinSoo, Eul etc probably aren't earning as much as I personally think they deserve), S2 have done a great job and what? Now the game is free? Shieet. Let them at least make money some how.

Furthermore, although I'm not really affected by Early Access since i don't play new Heroes much and I'm sympathetic to S2's situation, considering that the game with all of its Heroes is now calculated to be at least $232, I am rather discontent with the further addition of EA.
