Responsible for my own happiness? I can't even be responsible for my own breakfast

I'm looking into hosting a website and I was wondering if anyone had some good suggestions for a web host?

OVERWATCH STATUS GO

I use Dreamhost for my sites. If you sign up on a holiday, usually its super cheap for the first year, and you get unlimited bandwidth and space.

I'm using weebly, its free hosting with unlimited space and all that. They also have templates you can use to make simple websites, or you can code your own.

I think you can buy it, otherwise you have a little "built with weebly" button on the bottom of your page. Its very simple and fits my needs.

You can attach a domain whenever you want.

Though how pages are set up is kinda weird. I haven't really figured out how to build a splash page that says 'check back soon' without it being bogged down with the header....

Actually I have a friend that works on major projects who is really upset with Dreamhost. I don't remember the details too much but it was lame. I can ask him if you want...

But other people really like it. I was originally considering that.

The only issue I've had with them is that my sites (and GalaxyWiki.net) were unavailable one day for no reason, but I talked to some rep there in the online chat and they reset the server immediately. I will say that if there is any downtime, their customer service is great.

For what it's worth, I've been a customer of theirs since 2004 and have only had the downtime issue twice in that time (and one of those times was due to server maintenance in the early AM).

I should get paid for this word-of-mouth advertising.

CC was using Dreamhost for a time but switched to some other provider... I can't quite remember the specific reason why but it was a good reason (I believe random downtime was the reason which was annoying). Lav is paying like utterly nothing for it, and it has a shitton of space and bandwidth available (I think a terabyte+ each). So, yes, recommended.

Show them your butt, and when you do, slap it so it creates a sound akin to a chorus of screaming spider monkeys flogging a chime with cacti. Only then can you find your destiny at the tip of the shaft.
