The point is you still altered it, when it's not yours to alter.
He's really being over-protective if he rages about this lil' detail.
The main point is that I just don't want people in. ;o Crimson I mostly just felt bad for kicking him out with absolutely no warning.

You were like ROOOOOOOOOOOOAR.
Then I was disconnected. xO.

May I come on Farty's server as well?
None.

Minecraft truly is the Lego
TM of the computer age.
Does it come with a level editor? How flexible is it? I'm asking because in Tux's vid there's plenty of tiles like chairs and columns that don't look like what you can shape in game.
Also if there's an editor why would anyone go through the hassle of actually playing the game? The gameplay doesn't have much depth, is pretty tedious and compared to the vid is fairly limited.
There are only 3rd party editors that are really awkward.
The chairs are actually stairs with signs on either side ... pillars are columns of blocks (duh) or columns of signposts.

There are a few half blocks, stairs are basically a half-block and then a full block, in one piece. It's all about work rounds

That's no moon!
I really want to try doing that now, just to get those awesome looking caves and stuff.

Every time I run a server I have some
extreme lag - can anyone help me fix this?
Because the official server has not be coded for optimal usage. Its not even compressing the packets it sends.
Or do you mean compy lag?

No, connection lag. But... surely even without optimization I should be able to run a 2 person server without running into issues?
Depends on your upstream. With 80kbps upstream we BARELY are able to handle 4 people on my brothers server.

Minecraft online is still in beta. It lags no matter what you do.
Block Lag (when you chisel away at a block and it respawns a second later) is commonly caused by the server having too many people on it and it can't receive/send all the requests for updating the block matrix.
What are your PC specs?
Can't really know what you're doing wrong if we don't know what you're running.

My connection and specs are fine...
Intel i7 Q740 1.73 GhZ
6GB RAM
Nvidia GTX 460M - 1.5 GB
The most lag occurs when picking up or interacting with items, as well as fighting monsters. Literally the max people that I've been trying to have on a server is 3. And I know I used to be able to host a server properly, but that was a number of updates ago.
Holy hell
At this point, just blame the server. Some third party servers are coming out that are lagless, however do not have all the core features of regular minecraft yet. Ill be posting when they come out for sure.

I... I...
It's so beautiful.
Ok seriously. When you can do a server, tell me because I am gonna be close friends with you. Forever.

Sooo... I finally got around to build this thing on my friend's server
Should be about 325 blocks of wool
Based on this:
Which in reality is much, much more win.

Rochester institute? Is this some kind of UNI or other shared hub? Maybe port configuration is the problem.
