Just letting you guys know about some interesting games you can get for cheap.
5 indie games in 1 bundle, and you can pay whatever you want, from 1 cent up to thousands of dollars. No scam or anything.
http://www.humblebundle.com/Games include Braid, Cortex Command, Machinarium, Osmos and Revenge of the Titans. This could also be a cheap Christmas present for someone you know.

D:
I only have mere pennies left in my paypal from the purchase I made earlier today, and I wouldn't feel right giving such little for this.
On one hand, yes, I would want these games for a nickel... but on the other hand, I respect the authors and what they do and would like to help them benefit from their work.

Just spent 2 hours playing Osmos, it's pretty cool.

Bought these yesterday. Haven't been able to try them all yet, but Cortex Command is incomplete and frankly, bad. The controls aren't good and it's just not fun to play, though the concept is neat. Braid I know is fun as is Osmos, Machinarium is really cool based on what I've seen so far and Revenge of the Titans I have no idea because I haven't been able to get it to run.
Responsible for my own happiness? I can't even be responsible for my own breakfast
Aw yeah I love Osmos so much...
Ya, I had a copy of Osmos that my friend gave me...
Now I can get it myself!
wtf. D: If I try to customize where the money goes, there is missing cents. 85 to developers, 4 to each charity, 4 to the website ... What happens to the remaining 3? The least I can get is 1 hidden.

You just have to figure it out. Its awesome once you do.
The sale is over, but towards the end they also started giving away the Humble Indie Bundle 1 + 1 bonus game if you paid more than the average price. I paid only $3.50 however, which was well-below the average price, and still got access to the extra 6 games as well anyway.
So you guys might want to check your download link again and see if they show up for you too. It's good 'cause I wanted to buy the HIB 1 at the time but it ended before I got around to it, although I do feel a bit cheap paying $3.50 for essentially $200 worth of games.

Don't worry bro. Notch has you covered.

Just beat World of Goo. It was awesome.

I got up to the 3rd/4th levels of the factory and got a bit sick of it, especially for the longer levels. You can have a really great solution going, and make one little mistake and fuck the whole thing up, and have to start again.
So I moved onto Aquaria, and just finished that last night, after 15 hours of play (according to the save system, would've probably been another 2-3 hours of extra un-saved progress). Aquaria wasn't part of the HIB 2, but if you paid more than the average price you got access to HIB 1 games as well, or in my case apparently got it for no reason at all? Anyway, it was a really fun game, excellent production values and basically made by 2 people!
I also finished Revenge of the Titans, which is fun but kinda difficult until you know what the different research things do. Note: you should not research after every mission. Also you should get Scanners while you're still on earth (increase range), and optics by at the latest halfway through the moon missions (base range increase). The assault cannon is also very useful through the Mars and Saturn missions. Make sure you have version 1.72.1, if not re-download it, as it tweaks the balance and fixed a few issues.
Finished Samarost 2 as well, but that only took about 90 minutes or so (might be from the HIB 1 as well).
I installed Cortex Command, but it's basically a beta, and there's no campaign mode so I un-installed it.

Just finished World of Goo. It was ok, but Osmos, Aquaria and Revenge of the Titans were all better.
WoG was pretty up and down on the difficulty scale, although none of it was really difficult once you knew what you needed to do. They didn't make particularly good use of the different goo types, nor have any particularly long or complex levels.
I just gave Osmos another spin and owned the most difficult levels in short order - once you know the tricks, it's fairly easy. Having said that, though, I haven't bothered completing the orbital mechanics or epicycle levels, simply because they're tedious and an inordinate amount of trial and error (if you could save state while playing a level, I'd probably grin and bear it and finish them - but starting over from scratch is just lame).

You aren't a real man until you've beaten Epicycles and at least a dozen Feraxes.
Anyone else think Aquaria's story execution seemed a bit... rushed? Not that I want to complain about a practically-free game and all...

I played Feraxes about 8 times until I finally beat it, although funnily enough I got a "good enough" win from becoming big (but not big enough to kill it). That one seems to rely on luck quite a bit, and it seems the feraxes' real advantage is that it can go much faster and further than you on a single propulsion shot.
Have you finished Aquaria? Yeah, the story is definitely outside what I'd call standard RPG fare, and the lack of power development (outside new food and new forms) is a little odd. You need to get the 3 hidden memories in the game to get the 'proper' ending, which really makes a huge difference to the ending itself.
None.
The only trick with Ferax levels is to bum rush chains of orbs to get large fast, and balance that with frantically hunting Feraxes when opportunities exist. You could be fine with simply making a rush straight for optimal growth, though. Note that the infinite levels (or whatever they were called) pit you up against increasing numbers of Feraxes at once, by the way.
I can just think of so many ways they could have improved Aquaria. More songs for manipulating different aspects of the environment, less mindless blasting of everything that moves, more dynamic ecosystems, etc. Plus the narrative seems like something that was part of a larger overall story that got butchered into tiny slivers of its former self from some late-development decision. It did seem pretty clumsy at times.

Ok, I didn't know there were infinite levels
I guess you have to finish the whole thing to unlock them, but seriously I can't be bothered with the epicycle levels. Wonder if there are any cheats/trainers for it.
As for the storyline - their initial pre-alpha versions were more complex in terms of gameplay, but they trimmed it all down to what we have now + kept the cooking system, and wrote the storyline in from the beginning. I don't think they chopped anything out after that.

What was the pre-alpha going to have?
