You may be familiar with the idea of public tests or a "PTR" from playing other Blizzard Entertainment games. If not, you can think of them as open beta tests where players can preview upcoming patches before they go live. Patch 1.2 marks the first time that we've performed a public test for a StarCraft II patch, but we're planning to conduct public tests for most if not all future game patches. These PTRs help us a great deal -- when you participate and submit reports, we can squash more bugs and ensure that when the patch is released it's of the highest quality possible.

To participate in the public test you must have a full North America product license. Further details on how to begin participating in the PTR can be found in the FAQ .

For the latest information, patch notes, and to submit bug reports and feedback, please visit the Public Test forum.

As this is a test server, please anticipate uneven game performance. Restarts and downtime may occur without warning. We’ll provide information regarding extended downtimes, should they occur, in the Public Test forum.

Very good updates! I'm very happy. Except maybe the flux removal =/

Still no complete overhaul of the custom map system. :(

Chat is nice to have though, though clan support would be cool too.

Also, using water is better now? Haven't really looked at it yet.

I might not host it over there finally... The Chat looks like it'll annoyingly spam "MESSAGE LIMIT REACHED" all the time. :/

Unfortunately, the chat channels were quite underwhelming... *sigh*
They have the concept all wrong.
The Chat Channels should serve as the mainstream for the players.. not as a side.

First problem is that chat channels should be put on the top where all the achievements and match history are because it belongs there.

Second of all, it should take the entire screen in the middle that Tychus's face so proudly cover when you join the game. This goes back to the mentality that you have chat channels as the main hub for players to go through. The way that the channels are set up are merely public chat boxes, not chat channels. They hardly serve the purpose of allowing players to sit back and chat with others mainly because of all the stuff that's going on in the background. Moreover, why would anyone care about looking at their achievements and things when they're chatting? Another reason why the chat channel button should be put on top under your profile picture.

Last, and the biggest problem, is that a person can only type in 3 things in a small window of time. THREE things. So, maybe if you said something wrong on your third message and want to correct it, like maybe Join game//pass but typed the password wrong, then you're going to be stuck for ~10 seconds. This control is too stringent. The previous system still fits the bill much better than the new, as repeated text or you messaging alone are more likely to flag you as flooding, while actual chatting with other players will not.
Even if that system is not implemented, being allowed to only say "3, 2, 1" for a moment is hardly enough... I was simply talking with my friends, and it bugs me quite badly. I guess I'm just a fast typer, but they really shouldn't hold that against me..

Also, note that this limit is also now applied to party chat and friend chat.
horrible idea.

still, it's a beta patch, so Ima post this and hope it changes.

EDIT: Oh great, the PTR Feedback site is down.. LULS too much traffic presumably

Blizzard is getting too experimental with this.. do we all get this patch? :S Fungal growth not affecting flying units is completely unnecessary... there was no reason to change that ) : no more fungal growthing harrassing mutas... =.=

>be faceless void >mfw I have no face

I'm pretty sure clan support is planned, although not for 1.2 (AFAIK, don't hold me to that) so should be sweet.

Now the question is, Op SEN, or just SEN? KEKEKE
Is there any way to moderate a channel? Like if you join channel payne can you kick people?

I'd personally go for "SEN" since "Op" doesn't give any rights, as far as I know (haven't tried Op Payne, though). I did not have any rights, and it makes sense. ;D
However, "Op SEN" might be the way to go if we want to ensure that anyone from SC1 and not reading this post can easily find us.

Build time decreased from 35 to 30.

This is only a temporary change for the patch 1.2.0 PTR.
What the hell do they mean by temporary? What's the purpose of a temporary buff?

I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.

testing for seeing how that effects the early gameplay along with the other changes.
But since they say it would be temporary, they already think that 30 isn't satisfying. They may just want to have a look.

hell. It's about fucking time...

Also, no PTR for EU or any other continent? Shame on your Blizzard. Don't we get to test?

Let me show you how to hump without making love.

We can make our own custom UI for the entire game? Including the standard screen? Where's Corbo, he has work to do.

Customizable within custom maps like the mapmaker wants... So he can move around mineral/gas display wherever he/she wants or add other things. So easy and slim UI modification is possible. At least that is how I understood this.

I want right click detection on dialog items except left click detection only. I hope that they will add some more inventory item actions except delete (delete was possible before with remove unit, but it wasn't instant). I still want something like "Move 'inventory item' out of "unit's" inventory to 'point'" (like drop, just with triggers; btw drop button has to be made to trigger that order and you still need galaxy script to order a unit to drop an item at point because that order type is missing in GUI).
I'm expecting much more to come in future...

I'm curious what the dialog panels will do... storing the buttons (so that we only have to save the panel)? or automatically organizing components like multiple buttons, if added to the panel like the panels do that in java swing?

Thigh high affectionado

I knew channels were going to look like that. Im not too dissapointed, but I wish to see them much larger, or fill the back of the screen like everyone else is saying to feel nostalgic

Blizzard: ZvZ broken? LET'S BREAK IT MORE.

You really see how bad the majority of the SeN players are when they think removing flux vanes is a bad move. It was completely unnecessary.

However, the Phoenix continues to be the most overpowered unit vs. Zerg.
