Note: I couldn't find a translation for the French word "musicomane" so I tried to translate it as best as I could.

I am simply asking myself if there are any enormous music fans in here?
And by "music fan", I mean:
- Some times prefers listening to his iPod instead of talking with friends.
- Has already listened to music in the dark, doing nothing else than just appreciating the music.
- That kind of people also tends to notice the errors that an artist make when reproducing a studio version, and the person would normally be proud of himself about finding this error and will probably reproach the artist for it.
- Usually, people that likes extremely-progressive (very long length) songs can be classified as musicophile.

There are probably more characteristics, but that's what I have for now.
Anyone is like that?
I am.

EDIT: I wish I had done a poll before pressing the "Post" button. :hurr:

You can add polls to the topic after making the post, you know...

I consider myself an audiophile, but not necessarily only the sound of musical productions.

Just Here For The Pie

I am a huge music fan. I do most of those things, but I do not care for extremely, progressively long songs.
I like short songs the best so I can sing them back to myself later on to pass the time.

Your definition for huge music fan is horrible.

More like "addicted" than "fan"... it's just me and my poor vocabulary. >_>

Music addict?

1. Has massive collection of music on the shelves.
2. Has equipment to play vinyl, tapes, and CD that is hooked up into expensive sound system
3. Goes to concerts whenever possible
4. Constantly searching for more music / spending too much money on new music
5. Extensive knowledge of music trivia.
6. Sets aside a lot of time just for music listening.

Looks kind of accurate. I striked 1 and a half... mainly because I'm poor. :P

>be faceless void >mfw I have no face

Bro, you gotta get a record player if you can, and get the vinyls. Sound quality is so much better on records, and many modern artists do sell vinyls.

Just Here For The Pie

I went to: Lollipalooza, Warp Tour, Pitchfork Fest, Mayhem Fest, and North Coast Music Fest so far this year.
Most of the events were every week. Mayhem was the day before Warp Tour.

Oh! -And, I have a Stereo 8 player. :P

I'm happy with my Cassette and CD player.

Naw, you gotta have all three: Turntable, Cassette deck and CD player. Some releases are not released across all formats, so the ability to play all three is essential.

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

I've bought 5 CDs in my life, I stole the rest of my CD music from my brother (ripped and saved on a hard drive of course). There's probably another 10 CDs which were gifted to me. I've burned maybe 40 audio CDs in my life. My iPod I got back in 2005 (5th gen) has 19/30 GBs used, and a small percentage of it is FLAC, or 320 kbps mp3 files. About half of the music is free techno shit (techno being very broad here). Anything I really want, I rip off youtube.

Logitech g51 speakers. $0.99 headset. $10 headphones.

I'm going to get a sound card eventually, but it's more because Realtek sucks whenever I try to record something and the audio gets off.

I almost cannot listen to music on headphones, the quality is so low it makes my ears bleed. I play electric guitar. I love critiquing artists and finding little errors, even if it's like a big studio version. Those kinds of easter eggs are fun!

I analyze music cuz musician.

What are you talking about? Headphones have better quality than speakers.

Headphones CAN have great quality, but nothing is better than a high-end 5 speaker + sub system with optimal alignment.

Canalphones are ideally the best sound producing device for people who care about high audio fidelity.

Depending on the quality of the headphones, speakers may be better than it at producing bass signals.

Music is almost always in stereo so you don't need 5 speakers. In fact it is even detrimental for perfectly accurate playback because the stereo is upmixed to create a surround effect which didn't exist in the original piece. Remember, we're talking audiophiles here, not some sound system to impress the average joe. Headphones can deliver exactly what your ears are supposed to hear without interference from the other stereo channel and cancel ambient sounds. Good headphones have no limitations regarding low frequencies.

If you want to feel bass you can't use headphones, obviously.

Talking of errors...
Who ever noticed the errors in the solo of:
- Hearthbreaker (Led Zeppelin)
- Sultans of Swing (Dire Straits)

... And out of curiosity... are there any Bootlegs freaks/owners? :awesome:
I have quite a few from Pink Floyd, but that's pretty much it. ;o
