-=Intro=-
Dont ya hate it when you really want a sound for your map and you hear exactly what you want in another map but cant get it because the author protected it? Problem solved! This quick guide will teach you how to extract sounds from maps without OSMap corrupting/deleting them upon opening.

-=Stuff You Need=-
WinMPQ (a modders tool, but it has many other uses)
Download: Click Here!

-=The Actual Work (Oh noez!)=-
1. Open WinMPQ and click the Open button
2. Find the file you want the sound from in the menu that appears
3. open the file and find your sound, then drag and drop to where you want it
And your done!

That works if the listfile is valid. Otherwise you have to do trial and error.

Or even better!

Go to that link he gave, scroll up a bit to OS Map, download it, open the map, close OS map without saying 'exit' and then look in the OS Map folder inside Temp/staredit/wavs for your wavs!

Or even better!

Open the map in SC, and when you hear the sound, put your mic up to your speakers and record.

We live in a society.

Yeah, if you HAVE a mic.
And even then, the quality will be reduced.

Precisely, DM I would suggest following either falks or my method... no wonder the sounds you gave me are so bad quality

Sounds I gave you were from counter strike, and they were straight from the folder.

Second of which, the only reason I made the Mic joke, was because OSmap is corrupting our youth. They need to do things we had to in the old days.

And 3rd, I use the WinMPQ method a LOT.

LOL! I'm sorry, but OS Map is a much simpler and faster way of doing it :P

And even if you don't have a mic, I'm sure you have headphones so you can half even worse quality :P

OSMap lags. And its a lot better to choose a directory to save to, rather than finding the osmap directory and cut/pasting.

Oh no! I have to wait 20 seconds and then find a directory! All the world is lost!

I mean seriously, recording something gives bad quality, takes a ton of time to get it all set up, and you have to sit through each and every sound.

Or even better! [pun intended]

Some sound cards have audio recording, directly from what should go to the speakers. Makes pirating hard to find music thats only on myspace fun!...never mind.

If you rly want to record, using a mic would be a damn bad choice...

Just record the wave output. Double click the speaker symbol in the tray and choose recording settings and mark mixer or wave output.

My sound card doesn't allow recording, I wish it did :(

Hm... thats an american specialty I guess...

Here in germany (and probably whole europe) every shitty little soundcard (even those on-board) has that feature.
Lawl I can't imagine living without it... O.o

I use it for all sorts of things like recording radio music or extracting sounds from games to put them on my cellphone or w/e...

Poor Falky... (no irony!)
