In the end Uruguay didn't have a chance at all because Paul the Octopus predicted a victory for Germany. It's awesome that this little fellow was right in 7 of 7 games of Germany.

Match got better towards the end. Spain deserved the title but I cheered for Netherlands because they're more sympathetic imo.

That's easy to say if you see it all in slow-motion repeatedly. Yes he made some bad calls but he had some good traits too: He didn't decide the game by too quickly drawing cards and overall he didn't favor one team. (Except maybe that penalty kick but since Spain won anyway that was also not game deciding.)

I didn't really like this match a whole lot. Fouls everywhere and not much was happening, it was getting pretty repetitive. Spain makes a lot of passes in midfield and then they attack the same way they almost always do, one guy tries to cross it from either lateral only to either get the ball taken away or the Dutch intercepted the pass. The Germany vs Uruguay match was much more fun to watch, it was nerve wrecking at times.

Anyways, congratulations to Spain.
