Stupid ref.
It's always the refs, no?

In the Argentina-Mexico game, the line referee should have been able to clearly see that goal in which the Argentine player was offside, unless the referee was either in a bad position (he should always run ahead of the ball) or he was somehow distracted.

The stolen English goal was a tough call. The ball hit the lower part of the top post, hit the ground slightly behind the goal line and bounced back into the field. When a ball hits the top post the usual verdict is that if it bounced back to the field it's a no goal. The referee is also seeing it from the front, so it's hard for him to determine. It's also rare that a ball hit the top post and bounce inside the net, most of the time they bounce right in front of the posts.

Yeah amazing game. I was just baffled by how perfect we played this time. Strategy was perfect, almost no mistakes, most of the time won the ball without fouls. And of course our impressive offense. A victory well deserved.
If we can keep this up we can easily win the cup. Too bad you never know if the team plays good or bad before a game. They tend to fluctuate a lot.

And yeah, it was a lot of fun watching them destroy Argentina. :yahoo:

Are you sure about that?

Fuck that, I wanted Argentina to win, but I knew they would not. Germany is op right now.

Nahh, I think Spain's defense is too good for Germany.

On paper, Spain should defeat Germany by a margin of 2. The way the teams have been playing, Germany should win by 1 or 2.

They said that the big three of Argentina (Messi, Tevez and Higuain) were too much for the German defenses and they handled them without any problems. Argentina only got a few shots on goal, and those were hard forced shots in which there was nothing else to do. Also Germany has the advantage that the whole team (except Ozil) will go back and get the ball even if it's 5m away from their own goal, they do not wait for a defender they go get it themselves and they showed it a lot vs Argentina. Offensively, these guys are great on both sides and the center. You got Ozil running it up the middle and Schweinsteiger with Muller along the sides. Klose will either get the pass on the inside or pass it again to a guy in better position. No other team plays offensively like this, most players want to score goals, dribble around the defense and be heroes. Schweinsteiger hasn't scored a single goal, he's had many good chances but he'd rather pass to a guy in a better position, unlike Messi who has 2 defenders on top of him and couldn't seem to pass to Higuain who was open half the time. Di Maria did the same thing, cleanly drove the ball on the right side, but literally stopped dead in front of the German defense.

I haven't seen a lot of the Spanish games, but their offense has been lackluster scoring very few goals. Torres is essentially out becuase he hasn't fully recovered from injury, but the coach seems to keep starting him. Villa is playing great, nobody can deny it even though he got a few lucky goals he was also denied of solid shots. The rest of their midfield has been lacking. They'll get possession of the ball fairly easily, but don't do much with it.

I believe he determining factor in the game would be how well the mid-fielders can drive the ball, not possess it but actually move it from the back.

Also, Mick Jagger will probably root for Spain, so Spain is screwed. Jagger rooted for USA, USA lost. Jagger then rooted for England and then England lost. He then switched to Brazil and they lost too. Today he was rooting for Argentina, and they lose.
