I've looked around the internet for some time to find a free and user-friendly sound file converter, but nothing has come up. I've been recommended Audacity which I have.. but I have no idea how to covert my file from an .mp3 to a .wav.
If anyone has any advice on how to use audacity or if you have another user-friendly sound converter, that'd be great. Everyone I've found has not been free.
None.
drag the file into audacity. Click on File->Export. Select "wav" from the dropdown list or just save it as a "filename.wav" file and it will autodetect, so long as you haven't hidden extensions for known file types like the idiot microsoft thinks you are. If you have 1.2.6, you can click File->Export as wav, but you should be using the beta version.
Otherwise, mediacoder will convert with ease, but it's probably too hard for you. There's an audio version or the full version for audio+video.

rockz you're awesome. Thanks for that, and I am using the beta for audacity. That worked like a charm!
