OK TWIST OF TOPIC NOW. WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE BEST RACE FOR A NEW PLAYER TO START AS AND WHY???

PLEASE POST YOUR REASON WHY BELOW!!! If you think they are balanced just vote for your favorite or most played, and then a reason why. I am mostly looking for game play reasons, but anything will do.

I am doing this poll because I am doing a persuasive essay on starcraft for my final. The fact that my professor is letting me do this as a final I think is awesome. So now I need information on starcraft and lots of feedback, so naturally if I want info/feedback about starcraft I come to SEN.

Zerg. The Overmind and Cerebrates that control the Zerg race, as well as Kerrigan, are much more intelligent than any Terran or Protoss counterpart. Better intelligence is conducive to better war strategies.

The Zerg also constantly alter their genetic structure, assimilating beneficial features of other races into their own. This is shown when the Zerg learn to Infest Terran people, bringing part of a whole race into their strain. Their ability to adapt and quickly reproduce and expand is unparalleled, and the lower tiers are suicidally obedient to the Overmind and Cerebrates.

I know there is a weakness for each race if they are played correctly but my preferred race to use in this video game is Protoss because they have powerful armor and offensive abilities if they are fully upgraded.

protoss are the shit. i have always used them and i like the protoss ability to mind control other units i could start a zerg base and a terran base with that mind control its a shame they took out the dark archons

I picked the protoss, on the account i think that they have a well balanced team they have a good set of defense buildings as well as some of the best units in game is what i think.

Are we looking at this from a theoretical, storyline based perspective, or a numbers based, gameplay perspective?

Edit: Looking at your response up there, I will assume gameplay perspective.

I think the Terrans have the strongest and most versatile strategies, while also tailoring to a gameplay style I enjoy. Terrans generally have a siege-style gameplay, in which they don't directly attack their enemy's army, but instead set up a gradually moving wall that advances on the enemy. This makes you always have the "homefield advantage", in a sense. On top of that, the Terrans have some of the strongest (and most practical) units in the game, such as the Battlecruiser, with a whopping 500 hp, 4(?) base armor, and 25 + 3 damage per upgrade to both air and ground. Or the siege tank, with its absurd range and 70 + 5 damage. :3

Im looking mostly at the game play, but anything is good because I dont think my teacher knows anything about the game.

Terran.

Humans have always shown themselves to be the most adaptable of creatures, and their intelligence and sheer manpower makes an unparalleled combination, as opposed to the Zerg who have only the former, and the Protoss, who have only the latter. The Zerg have a certain amount of adaptability, but if a creature doesn't immediately suit their purposes they simply destroy it; Terran, on the other hand, will investigate everything in an attempt to understand their environment and use it for their purposes to the best of its ability. Protoss have too much respect for life to bend it to their will. Terrans, the most pragmatic and adaptable of the three races, will go to any reasonable length to secure their goals.

I won't vote as i believe there all balanced in there own way, anywho not hard to see that the vote counters are fairly balanced

Balance wise, there is none.

SC is balanced, therefore, there is no "better" race.

But I like protoss. Their units are powerful as hell (of course, they take a while to build and they cost alot).

if you feel they are balanced thats cool, then just put which one you like the most. This is a persuasive essay I am doing, doesnt mean it has to be true. So just put which one you like the most and why you like them most.

For me,
Zerg looks like the movie "ALIEN",
Protoss looks like the movie "Predator",
Terran looks like the people in "Terminator"

In Alien, the terran wins, in predator the terran wins and in terminator they will most-likely win.

Preferably, Protoss. Although the race requires less micro that other races, the time can be dedicated toward macro as well. As a random player, playing Terran or Zerg requires much more micro than Protoss. More or less, Protoss allows players to evenly divide their attention to become a more balanced player.

Terran, because they bomb the battle field. Terrans can float CCs to secluded areas for a great advantage, they can nuke, and they can siege thousands of tanks on a cliff over an enemy base. Terran can build off ledges and defend well in the beginning, due to having the only primary unit with range. Terran can also use irradiate which completely kills zerg, I mean, the zerg have no chance once they are irradiated. Nukes, they are hard to spot without the right units, if you get sci vessels,a ghost, and some valks, use the vessel to sense obs and neatralize them. With valks you can take out a group of ovies at once. Basically, Terran dominates the battle field, whether it be massing BCs to MnM, if an experianced player is Terran, you stand absolutely NO chance against them.

Technically, they are a different race. You should play the Campaign.

I say protoss, because the have the most (and funnest) build orders in competitive starcraft, and I like them.

Protoss, 'cause they look cool.
