Who needs a purpose in life? Who even has one?
None.
Quote from Dark_Marine_123
Knowing when you will die, ruins your purpose in life.
No. Knowing your death hour is in no way related to that.
Who needs a purpose in life? Who even has one?
What made you say that? If you need one, you will find it. I know a fiew people who have one.
...Althought psychologically speaking, almost everyone has their scenario with a set end. If you consider it your goal, then most peopel actually have a goal in life, and they do need it to partially base their behavior and perception on it.
Yeah, on topic: I do not believe that the world will come to an end on that day.

The end of the world was predicted on December 12th, 2012 by a the famous philosopher Nostradamus and by the ancient Mayans who's culture had a far greater understanding of the world than we do today. Our top scholars today can not even figure out how the Mayans came up with their calendar which happens to end on December 21st, 2012. Scientist today have discovered that there is indeed a black hole in the center of the galaxy, that our sun WILL align with on December 21st 2012.
Bold and underlined, this means the Mayans must have been clever than us.
But, I am cleverer then everyone here... try figuring out how I came up with this:
2589 and a half.
See? Pure genius.

It's the end of a cycle for the calendar, not the world. It's like buying a new calendar after december. You're renewing your calendar.

WWII and the following Cold war was the most disastrous event the mankind ever had. Even though the Cold War wasn't nuke wars, it had wars on many fronts, building new and bigger missiles by each day- people had to live in fear.
Mayans were technologically inferior and didnt luck out, therefore died out. They didn't have scopes that could see through atmosphere, or have stellar scopes to see the stars without hinderance from our atmosphere. In no way they could've had better astromonical understanding then us- currently.
People have no idea how people lived in World War II. Many countries weren't doing good, and some were living in total chaos. There were genocide, scales of war were way bigger than any of the battles in the middle east. Countries were forcibly taken over and back by countries. Colonies were ravaged by the need for war supplies.
I don't think aligning with a black hole in the middle of our galaxy has anything to do with the doom of our race. And bible doesn't predict anything of specific date.
We have millions of stars aligned with the center piece of our galaxy, and we dont see them get sucked in. So no.
Also on note, there have been theories of mankind get destroyed or doom - armageddon is coming wahh things countless times. When it ever came, it did not happen NOR did it happen. We can just prove that this thing is bullshit and is not open minded because these kind of things are generally bullshit and has been disproven countless times.

The most of these armageddon theories are based on religion, unless its something about a gay asteroid.
Other than that, if it is true im screwed as I live on the coast.
And DM im with you on the anti-christ...be sure to find Damien too though.

Well, as much as you might say the Mayans were "inferior." They weren't in terms of astronomy. The fact that they could figure out all of the things that we know today about space without the sophisticated technology is astounding.

WoW.
I just finished the game Assassin's Creed. (yes this is directly related to this topic and I didn't discover this until just now. I posted this before finishing the game.)
SPOLIERS DON'T READ PAST THIS PART IF YOU WANT TO ENJOY THIS GREAT GAME YOURSELF.
The ending of the game talks about the world ending on December 21st, 2012, which is only 3 months away from the time in the game.
The company you are seen with in some parts of the game the whole time they are using you to find a holy artifact before the end of the world.
And for those of you who read this and won't play the game, and try to say "Omfg ur stupid assassins creed takes place in middle ages." your wrong. The game takes place in September of 2012.
Why I posted this. Idk. I just thought it was cool.

We've had the topic a million times before, I swear..

People like shrina who call people close-minded like they do are numbskulls. Open-mindedness is being able to taste an idea, even if you don't want to digest it. Now, if you are giving us rotten eggs to eat, you can expect most people to not digest it. And you'll get some of the responses that you have. Even considering 95% of the predictions you posted is just a waste of time. Nostradamus was just a guy who wrote extremely ambigious things that people enjoy intrepreting as accurate predictions.

A new 13,000 year "Universal Year"
The Mayans based their system on the universe, not the Sun like the Gregorian calandar system.

I would take this ytmnd
http://endofourworld.ytmnd.com/ in consideration before thinking of 2012.

What does that have to do with 2012?
Just because some random person on the internet says that 2012 is an "apocolyptic event", doesn't mean it will be.
Man, you're funny.
