Okay, So I was browsing around the interwebs looking for my Horoscope for today. And I stumbled upon the date that the world ends.

Apparently, on December 12th, 2012 some astronomical shit is gonna happen, the sun is going to align with some giant black hole to the underworld in the center of the milky way galaxy and we are all going to die in a flood. Sounds great huh? Now some people might be thinking that this is complete BS, and that it has no scientific backing. But unfortunantly for us all, It does.

The end of the world was predicted on December 12th, 2012 by a the famous philosopher Nostradamus and by the ancient Mayans who's culture had a far greater understanding of the world than we do today. Our top scholars today can not even figure out how the Mayans came up with their calendar which happens to end on December 21st, 2012. Scientist today have discovered that there is indeed a black hole in the center of the galaxy, that our sun WILL align with on December 21st 2012.

Now to scare you slightly more, here's some crazy shit thats predicted to happen on or before this day:

-Bible Predicts the Emergence of the Anti-Christ (2008?)
-The Hopi Indians predict a great purification of Earth.
-Nostradamus predicts devastating asteroid.
-"I Ching" predicts the end of history.
-Bible Predicts the Apocalypse.
-Prophecies of St. Marley predict only one more Pope. (Last pope is now?)
-Edgar Cayce Predicts the return of Atlantis. (Sweet! I wanna go!)
-Albert Einstein predicts polar shift (North Pole becomes south pole, south pole becomes north pole)
NOTE TO ABOVE: This only happens once every 25,800 years. And if it happens rapidly, like expected on December 21st 2012. The extinction of our species will occur. I personally think this is what happened to the dinosaurs.
-NASA Confirms intense solars storms on coming.
-Earth completes its 26,000 year wobble.
-Sun aligns with the plane of the milky way galaxy (gg no re?)

That said. My personal beliefs are this.

If this is true, then we are screwed. and its GG to Earth. Our race has destroyed this planet and used up all the resources. Agent Smith put it best in the Matrix when he said we are a virus to this planet and we are slowly killing it. Or I hope some aliens come to us and save our asses. I mean, wtf happened to the Mayans, how the hell did they figure that stuff out, and where the hell did they go?! I hope we get the same courtesy from Aliens.

Humanity is completely ignorant and stupid. There is so much more to the universe than we know about. What will happen to us? What will happen to Earth? Is it GG to us too b/c we live in such a horrible time, or is it only GG to the noobs that got us here? Either way, My only hope is for December 21st 2012 to pass like any other day. And I don't want to get sucked into a black hole to the underworld, But I wouldn't mind touring Atlantis. And I would rather not drown in a global flood. Cuz drowning is teh sux.

Also, the Mayans were far more advanced than us when it came to astronomical things. We base our calendar today off what they started! Don't mock them.

1. Why weren't previous polar shifts as violent as the one these people predict will happen?
2. Will Earth, the Sun, and a black hole aligning cause the black hole to fire its laser at us or something?

I'm no scientist. And I don't completely understand all of this. But from my understanding:

1. Apparently this polar shift will happen more rapidly than the previous ones. Also, how do you know the other polar shifts weren't just as violent? Do you know anyone who has lived though one? Polar Shift = Bad either way.
2. Black Hole AKA "Dark Rift" may not have anything to do with it. It is just a symbol of time when the world would come to an end. When The sun aligns with it. I don't think I said anything about the Earth aligning with it. Also this "Dark Rift" is directly in the center of the galaxy, who knows what its for, maybe it does have a laser . (That was a joke, don't take it seriously)
3. If the predictions of the Bible are true, The Anti-Christ is coming to visit.
4. It wasn't all of Mayan civilization that was conquered by the Spanish. Actually I believe only the Yucatan were conquered directly by the Spanish. Although, I didn't really pay attention in History class that much, So Idk.

Many of us believe it is irresponsible to believe in something that can't be proven. I wouldn't call that close-mindedness. Here's an idea. The SUN might align with a Black Hole in the center of our galaxy killing off humanity.

While I do believe the Mayans are really intellectual. I do not believe for a fact that the world will end on December 12th, 2012 (maybe a new one is born on the 13th? =P). Firstly, the black hole may not exist, scientists can still be extremely off about whether or not the black hole is there, because, as we currently know, light only travels at 3 million meters per second. And that black hole can be several hundred, maybe even thousands or maybe millions of light years away. That would mean it would take several hundred, or more years for us to see that black hole IN THIS PRESENT DAY. Meaning if we looked at the black hole, 100 years from now, and it was 100 light years away, that's what the black hole would have looked like NOW, this very year. Religion is something invented by man when we cannot explain why things are the way they are (At least this is what I believe). The bible can be false or it can be true. No one knows if there is a greater being that has created us. None of this can be proven scientifically. The bible is a creation of man, in order for us to have hope. To hope there is something for us after we die, to hope that life isn't just a meaningless thing everyone lives through, to hope that there can be something to be done for our troubles. It gives us help when we're all lost and confused.
The devastating asteroid is certainly possible, there are probably millions of chunks of rock floating out there on the asteroid belt. There's the possibility that one of those will drift towards Earth. We'll never know, it's up to fate. The polar shift is a theory. GG. Now that's not to say I don't believe we're infesting the planet and killing it, with the gas emissions and other various things humans do that impact the environment. We are too smart for this planet. =P

Now this does not mean I do not respect other opinions, religious or not. I just have my own.

EDIT: About the black hole I forgot to post earlier, even if there is one, we're probably too far away for it to have any gravitational effect on us... since we're practically on the edge of the Milky Way.

I have to laugh at the video's attempt to make Middle Eastern terrorism (among other things) sound like proof the world is about to end. What's happening now is nothing (and I mean NOTHING) like WWI and WWII, which happened before that 1958-1998 time period that the one guy said would be the time that things would progressively get worse.
