Vista BUG

I have Windows Vista on my computer an I have found that there's a security issue with Vista being "over-secure".
Microsoft Vista terminates the program as it loads, preventing StarCraft form loading. Mostly all apps are "killed" as they start.
I would avoid Vista and stay with XP for a while because not even some basic games will work. If anyone has Vista, I would suggest NOT upgrading all of your PC's yet until the bug is gone...I f you have any ideas on how to get around this, or even have your own problem with Vista, or, in fact, any other Microsoft product, please post it here: I know Microsoft back2front inside-out...

Check out Microsoft's forums about this bug at this link

Have fun :D

Turn off User Account Control. Vista is a fine OS, it's a shame most are afraid to try it.

I agree: Good OS but no user acounts involved.
It's all got to do with the security Center. No overide yet found... :(

Whenever I have a problem with a program I just right click it and select Run as an administrator and it works dandily. Vista is fine, you just have to know how to make it work for you.

I swear I am sick in tired of noobs complaing about problems of vista that are so easy to fix.I have finnaly got a vista and any problem that has crossed my path is freaking simple to fix.If you can't handle these problems then you don't deserve a computer.

I wouldn't go that far, most people don't spend as much time on computers as we do, but they should probably try to work with the problems before just saying "Vista is shit".

Problem is even If I try to overide it the program is still teminated- and its not just me beacuse my friend has same problem I tried that and the administrator account still wont overide the Security Center functions. Microsoft admitted that this would be a problem and tht there is no fix yet... I still. I looked at the Security Center programming and even if you do overide it will still kill the app.

-I have used Vista since it came out so I know what I'm talking about here. Anyway, I still reccomend Vista, regardless of this bug. Mostly all Vista packs are OK but it must be my computer. I'm using Vista on a VMWare Virtual machine so there may be an issue with that. I have checked an SC should run fine.

I also got email from Microsoft- they said they didnt know the bug that I was talking about. I sent several replies- all failed...

Erm.. saying you have used Vista since it came out isn't really any sign of qualification, I have seen tons of people who have used computers forever and still suck with them. Ie. my entire class.

As if you didn't know that... The drivers for Sc aren't out of Vista.. And i don't think they ever will. Let go of Xp and go to vista if you want a better operating system. Move onto a better game ;).

Uhh, Starcraft doesn't have drivers...

No problems running Starcraft on Vista here. It does crash if I try to connect to a PvPGN server without disabling Data Execution Prevention, but that isn't really Vista's or Starcraft's fault, it is the PvPGN software or one of its components.

May be a specific-mode problem.

I used Vista for a good 4 months and all my games worked perfectly (Except KOTOR cause of SecruROM). Most games work just fine on Vista. I also participated on Beta 2 and RC2, in which most games worked perfectly fine. (Beta 2 was really slow however). I would of had Vista longer, but once Soccer started I gave my computer away so I could focus.

Once I turned off UAC and updated Vista, I didn't have a single problem. It was more responsive than Xp, more polished Explorer, looked better than Xp, and most if not all of my games ran just as good. Games from Diablo to Supreme Commander and Company of Heros all worked and ran like a dream.

Are you running Vista 32bit or Vista 64bit?
