The challenge is to play the game and post about any creepy or scary moments you had in the game. Don't go into too much detail just to not spoil it for anyone else =)

A horrifying and creepy game that makes you want to live through to the end. Inspired by a Newgrounds game entitled also as "The Ugly".
The Ugly is a single player game that should be played on battle net due to viewlocking. It's defined as a horror game with limited to no combat. However this is not a movie map since you are in total control over your character and must evade the enemy in tough situations. Not only are evasive instincts needed but some thinking is also required. Through examining objects you must either decide to use it or leave it. Some you should use, others may end with an undesired result.

* "knife" sometimes doesn't disappear for about 20 seconds.Thanks to the Map Contest #2 on SEN this map was created =D. I was always interested in making a non-combat game but ideas never came, but now I finally made one and it's pretty awesome =D. Hope you guys like it, can't wait to see how the judges judge it

Pretty fun. The only bad thing is that there is a bunch of random deaths (Example: Dialed the phone and the killer ran out of nowhere.)

I randomly got chopped up by a zealot when I turned on the TV. I really didn't have any desire to play again after that. Sorry.

Maybe your missing the point...
If you turn on the t.v. it makes a loud noise. If there are people in the house they can hear the noise and come into the room and chop you to pieces
You should always be aware of any noises you make in this game (T.V., phone, etc) because someone else might hear it aswell. Also I'm pretty sure you had the opportunity to run or hide before he came in and chopped you up =)

Yup be careful what you use. If the object might make noise be prepared to get out.

Also I encourage you to finish the game to the end. It's not very long and you might see the game a bit differently =)

You just die too easily, that is my only complain. Nothing else is wrong.

I second the above. Dying upon entering the shower was dumb. Etc. And the relatively long "cutscene" at the beginning (the girl driving up to the house) makes restarting annoying.
Also: I would have strongly preferred a different form of interface. The way I would have done it is to use a Kerrighost. Walk up to something to examine it, shoot it to use it. Or, use a mod: Give the Carrier or Reaver the Medic graphic, sounds, etc, and give it the ability to build Scouts and Corsairs. (It would have to be one of those.) Or, EUD keypress detection.
Also also: The way the center view was done annoyed me. It would have been much better to do it constantly.
Now, I still love the concept. Redo it, possibly on SC2? Please?

Well I felt my interface was simple and practical. 2 buttons, use and examine. It really doesn't need to be that complicated.
and I agree about the centerview. I was trying for a different atmospheric approach but I would have had to make precise location sizes and hyper triggers which I couldn't do before I released the map for the contest >_<
Also the cutscene in the beginning is almost exactly 30 seconds. I guess restarting the game could be seen as a "gamer punishment" for dying based on general gaming and unholy_urines blog
. I bet it seemed longer than it was because it's a pretty simple scene for starting the story and environment.
About what you might call random death scenes, they were pretty much made to pay homage to the original game I based this on. I probably could've allowed an opportunity to escape death in those couple inescapable parts though.
and although I won't guarantee a 100% remake I might make a similar game in terms of gameplay and atmosphere.

Edit: Ok, after playing that, I'll just say that the game is incredibly short... I thought i would spend at least 20 min on this.
The quality of the game was incredible, but the quantity is lacking. I expect more great horror maps from you.
Also, I found 6 ways to die. excluding the final scene.
