So, I really want an RPG to play recently, and I can't get into Dragon Age, so I was wondering if any of you guys had good suggestions for RPGs. Some RPGs that I've enjoyed in the past are: (But not limited to:)

Diablo, Diablo 2, Baldurs Gate (Any and all), Neverwinter Nights, Fable, Fable 2 (Although not as much for these two).

I need something with depth, which all of these games (except for fable and 2) have or had, at least for their time. Any suggestions please give a heads up.

PyMS and ProTRG developer

I really enjoyed Fallout 3. Also if you have friends in real life, DnD :P

I just moved to Michigan from California, so yeah, nothing like that is an option at this point. Although I am increasingly wanting to play DnD because a lot of my friends online play it. But alas, I cannot.

Fallout 3 is a great game, but not really what I'm looking for in an RPG.

If you couldn't get into Dragon Age then Mass Effect 1/2 probably wouldn't be good for you either.

If you're not after a particularly modern RPG, then Arcanum or Planescape: Torment are very good.

Mass Effect 1 and 2 are among the best games ever made. However they have a low replay value for me. I can only start a new character once every few months. I will check those out, thanks.

My friends want to try Shadowrunner or else the Starwars table top game. :O I don't know if I'm ready for that type of nerdiness.

You consider diablo 2 to be a RPG? You don't have very high standards :bleh:

If you don't mind horrible graphics, you should try the "classics"; my favorites were Might and Magic VI: The Mandate of Heaven and Wizardy VIII. Ultima (either 6 or 7) was also fairly good. In the line of Baldur's gate, Icewind Dale was also pretty good. Then, there's the adventure games I'm certain you've heard of: The Legend of Zelda: A link to the past and The Ocarina of time, Final Fantasy (every single one for the SNES and the seventh; I haven't played the others) and its derivatives like chrono trigger. There's Fallout which I never really liked but it's very well made nonetheless. Also, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was really good even if I didn't get to play it that much.

Those games may be old but they are not inferior to newer ones in any way. In fact, it's quite the opposite.

Well, there's good old TES4: Oblivion if you haven't played it yet.
I've heard good things about Gothic 3 too, though I have barely played it myself for some reason.
The Sacred series might also be worth looking into if you like Diablo style gameplay.

Yeah the good ones were already mentioned so I'll just reiterate/give my 2 cents.
Even if you disliked Fallout 3 you might like 1 + 2. They play play pretty differently and one of the greatest games I played.
Gothic 3 has a huge world to discover and a unique battle system where you actually control your character's moves to an extent.
Oblivion also has a huge world to discover and a unique leveling system. You actually have to practice skills to get better with them.
Knights of the old Republic (KotoR) 1 + 2 are just very well overall made and everyone I heard liked it although I can't really say why. It just rox. ;)
Although a bit older, one of the greatest RPG/FPS I've ever played was Deus Ex 1. 2 wasn't as exceptional as the first, but is still recommended. You played a futuristic "special agent" and had to use stealth, tech skills, timing or just raw firepower to reach your goal and there were always alternative routes. Great story too. You haven't played it? Definitely do so now!

Of course there's many more, but those are the best of the newer ones. Also, obviously, I left out games you mentioned yourself.

Any game that contains a large amount of playing a role is considered an RPG. :P But thanks for the recommendations, everyone, I'll check most of them out if not all of them.

>be faceless void >mfw I have no face

The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, and Deus Ex 1, are both pretty good.

Red classic.

As in addition to what everyone else suggested that isn't a table top game, look for mods. Oblivion and fallout 3 are garbage unless you get mods for them. Sadly though your going to have to look through all the porn mods to get to the good ones.

What about Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines? It's a pretty good game but it's got a lot of bugs. :-/ It's playable though even with the bugs.
You can also try Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption it's a little older but it's got great graphics for its time.
