I was playing around in the editor and went to set player properties. Apparently there's a resource called terrazine.
I haven't been keeping up with Starcraft II beta until just this week. Is there a 3rd resource? Or was it planned and canceled? Does it still exist to be used in custom maps?
None.
Blizzard stated that there was support for a third resource. I guess Terrazine is just the default name for it.

I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.
I think it's a ressource for the campaign only.
In the SC story terrazine was used to create Spectres out of Ghosts.
some wiki
From my own observations within the editor, I believe you'll be able to define your own custom resources.
None.
It is a substance that has been sought over by terran, protoss, and finally zerg alike...
"Terranzine" was a substance that was used by the Dominion in Project Shadow Blade to alter the genetic make up of ghosts...
Several of these terranzine mines are found on mar sara as well a protoss world, finally raynors raiders ask someone to aquire it....

Yup, what they've said... It's only used in the Campaigns, nothing melee-related.
We can use that in Custom Maps as well as one custom resource.
None.

It's a 3rd resource in the Terran campaign. A few levels revolve around mining it.

Wrong. There's an empty custom resource slot along with Terrazine, Vespene, and Minerals.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMX2tdIUIWISo we essentially get
four different resources!?!
Yes. Minerals, Vespene, Terrazine, and Custom.

It's also possible to manipulate supply like a resource, if you don't want to use it anywhere else.
None.
Really, can anyone even find a use for 5 different resources?
None.

Yay for marshmellows!!
But ya, you could set up some kind of game style similar to warcraf and have Wood, Oil, and Gold and if you wanted you could make some life like game that requires LOTS of resources. It all depends on how your setting up your map.

They're more useful to modders, TBH.
None.
Can't you set scripted button requirements, giving you an unlimited number of resources?
None.
Just curious whats the custom resource everyones talking about
None.
It is literally called "Custom Resource". Browse through the 'Requirements' field for a unit, or ability, or something.... and you'll find it.

Also, having worked a tiny bit with the GUI, I have to say that there are effectively infinite resources. I'm not sure if you can configure a custom variable to fit in completely with the existing resources, but even if you can't, you can create an array integer variable for the amount of players you have and simply display that using dialogs and such. I would expect you can integrate it flawlessly with tooltips, as well.
