Now then. (rant n shit)

We may all love our MW2 and FF13 and WoW but you do know their are so many games out there that have been missed by the main stream eye, and why? Well I'd like to think a huge population of gamers are ignorant. At least to things like story, art, and detail. Game developers today go out of their way to have certain features that other games already have because the mainstream 'vidya game playa's' will always compare games to each other and go "Fuck this game. Why? Because If I get this game that ALL my other friends have then I get to have the PEW PEW shooting explosions of most games out their AND this one has a this new system where I can FUCKING JUMP!"

What I'm saying is that it feels like todays games build on each other so much it's like every 'new' game you buy isn't really a new game it's more of an expansion pack. If I by game X now, they will release Game Y next year with the same game play but with a different story and more up to date graphics. Since developers like to play it safe and stick to what works. That's cool and all but being safe like that will most likely produce something positive but not as good as someone who would of taking a bold new step in a new direction. Of course going into unknown land always brings the chance of doing something extremely horrible but that is the price of having high ambitions. That is how games that are amazing but never get the following/attention to be completed or have sequels never get into the main stream and stay in the "under ground".
I want to play some fucking epic games that I have never heard before and fucking rock my socks off so getting to the point of this topic, Let's fucking post some fucking games to fucking play fuck year seaking.

tl;dr

Post games that are under appreciated yet are worth playing (fuck yea seaking).
oh and maybe a description and WHY this game is worth playing.

I was shouting these games yesterday in the shout box and they seemed to get pretty positive attention from some SEN members who noticed/cared.

The First game being Pathologic
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pathologic

It's been described as "Oblivion (TES) with Cancer" Basically it has a lot of the open world feeling has Oblivion except it all takes place inside of one (cursed?) town. You start off playing as one of either of two characters with a total of 3 playable characters (unlockable). Each character plays through a story that intertwine with each of the others (If you see a dead body somewhere then in another players story you were probably the murderer of the body as part of a quest or something). You also need to take care of yourself like keeping up your reputation, hunger, thirst and exhaustion. This is a very hard game and it's almost a chore. To be honest with you this game looks like it's more about work then having fun and in that lies the reason why this game is worth looking into. This game is like a book. I would tell you why but it would have a lot of spoilers and anyways their are reviews that would be able to explain it way better than I ever could.

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2008/04/10/butchering-pathologic-part-1-the-body/
(includes spoilers but a great review for the game)
The main focus of the game is it's art. Read and you will see. Pretty unique game from a Russian team.

The next game I shouted out was created by the same makers of Pathologic. It's called "The Void" (not dark void). Now this game is truly unique. It revolves around you existing in a void that you have crossed into after you've died... so you play a game where your already dead..yep. Its filled with a bunch of 'wtf' and nude girls. The void is almost completely absent of color and well... color makes the world go around. Color is everything. Srsly. You collect colors from creatures and other things in the void and color is used for attacking, interacting, your health, your mana, and pretty much everything else. The same thing that you would use to say hi to someone would be the same thing that represents your health. Kind of like a one size fits all currency. Again I really suck at giving reviews for games but check this out.

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2009/09/29/wot-i-think-the-void/

Another game that me and Phobos have played/are into is the Penumbra series. It's a pretty old game that can pretty much scare the shit out of you at least once when you try it out. Even making you hide in a corner (in the game of course) for a good 10 minutes because you thought you heard a creature and trying to lose that creatures attention when in reality nothing really happened. This game really shines in its physics and world interaction making it probably the best survivor horror game (that's actually a horror survivor game) in known existence. I heard Nosferatu was good but probably only a close second to this game. Barricading your self in room by literally moving anything that isn't nailed to the floor is pretty fun at times too. Also worth interest is the newest game by the same developer:
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2010/02/19/hide-and-shriek-amnesia-dark-descent/

Also I heard the game "Alan Wake" Was supposed to be another great game nobody will most likely play.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Wake

Share your games that you've played. GOGOGOGO.

Unreal Gold, this game inspired so many creative things. I've beaten it countless times and I still play it for fun. The atmosphere is the most intense in a game I have ever felt. You guys should go buy it, or get it by other means :sly: I seriously recommend it.

While I agree I wouldn't say Unreal (Gold) was underappreciated. It was quite a success afaik.
Which holds true for basically every "grand" game I played which is why I have nothing to contribute...

In a way, anything that is under appreciated/indie NOW would still count i guess. ;D

I can see what you mean, but the whole time i've owned the game I haven't heard of anyone i know that knows what I'm talking about. But that could just be because it's so old... oh well.

Urban Dead.

The metagaming and general strategy of this game is great, and it limits how much you can play each day due to only having 50 turns per day, so it isn't addictive, but still enjoyable. Oh yeah, and it has ZOMBIESSS! But most people are put off by the lack of graphics.

Savage and Savage 2

It's sad that s2 made such awesome games, then made a ripoff of an rts and suddenly got 10x their normal user base, who know nothing about their older games.

Has Savage 1/2 also a single player campaign? Or is it multi player only?
Because I don't feel like starting another multiplayer only game. Most of them require quite an amount of effort to be good at while I can pwn comps all day casually. ;)

So far only Rockz has a game that looks promising. KEEP GOING. MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAR.

This is a downloadable Xbox 360 game, but it's an indie game nonetheless.
I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES 1N IT!!!1
It's extremely fun, and the graphics are fairly decent (far better than the "cover art" implies). And it's got some amusing and fun background music that very nicely complements the gameplay.

Welcome... to my game.
I put zombies in it... for your pain.
They come shambling out... from the sides.
You better shoot them... or you're gonna die.

And for your viewing pleasure, a review.

Also good are Leave Home and Alien Breed: Evolution.

I should note, though, that I have only played these games' trials.

It's basically like a cheap version of what "Legos online" would be. Someone should make a SEN server so i can make a really epic castle. :C

It's a pretty good time waster.

ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!

Savage (2) is all multiplayer, and the learning curve is pretty high. There's a few tutorials out there which show you what you are supposed to do (attack the BACK of the enemy, lol).

Otherwise, it's a simple FPS with gravity affecting some weapons. Most games end up being draws or taking forever to win/lose, but it's nonstop action, and the nice part is that since it's a fps, you can EASILY stay back and snipe people, which doesn't require specific skill at all. Melee is different, as is some of the other units (summoner strike and ballista are affected by gravity, as are mortars and launcher, and catapults are VERY hard to aim correctly, since they shoot in an arc).

Unlike most multiplayer games (including HoN), the game is ridiculously simple, which means that it is easy to get pretty good at. You only have to learn 24 weapons, 24 items, and 10 units. You only need to learn 1 building (shield tower, which reduces all damage around it to 20% or so). In most other games, there's a ridiculous amount of spells, weapons, items, which make it that much harder to learn the game.

It's really a LOT of fun, and with Savage XR, a fan made graphics/gameplay total conversion, the graphics don't look half bad for a game made in 2003 on Open GL graphics.

IDK if anyone has played Hidden & Dangerous, but it's a WW2 game where you can control 4 guys doing covert shit. Found it at the same time I found Savage on some site that recommended the three best free games you can find (the third was america's army).
