I do stuff and thingies... Try widening and reducing the number of small nooks and crannies to correct the problem.

You can't "settle" this. Both are good. And differences are minor. So it comes down to personal preference.
The thing we're settling is which people like better. I've heard people say "Everyone uses X" for both. Quit trying to nitpick.

I have used Ventrilo very briefly back in 2006. It might be ignorant since I have not used Teamspeak, but I am going to vote for Ventrilo. It was an easy to use program.
(My favorite means of voice communication on the computer is the Call feature in Window Live Messenger.
Sadly, it only supports one on one calls.)

I like Ventrilo myself, simply because I'm content with a good chat - I won't do nitpicks on this and that. I've heard about Teamspeak, but I'm already satisfied with the former for its convenience.
