"Taken from FarCry" explains a lot here. This can fall under "New weapons."
I'm not denying that Halo is good, it's just that it seems overhyped and overrated when people think that it's revolutionary or "outside the box". You want to know what games thought outside the box? Spore, BioShock, Deus Ex, System Shock 2, those are games that thought outside the box.
Even Starcraft didn't really think outside the box, besides some of the creative mechanics (Zerg Hatcheries, Pylons, etc.), there wasn't much original about it. It was just a good example of its kind.
Unfortunately, I don't think I can say Halo 3 is the best in either multiplayer or single player. Gimme the Orange Box anytime.
You STILL didn't reread what I wrote. StarCraft is made in 1998, do you really think they have out-of-the-box ideas back then? In StarCraft 2, you see a lot of things dramatic comparing to the original.
No, I'm still not getting what you said. You made the argument that Halo 3 "sets the bar" and "thinks outside the box", yes?
Yeah, they did have "out-of-the-box" in 1998. Dune, the game that pretty much started RTS, Deus Ex, System Shock 2, etc.

Okay, let me copy and paste:
"Actually if anybody knew, Halo 3 is actually setting the bar. There's the Map "Editor" (Not Map Maker), named as Forge while editing and playing online at the same time from editing boxes and weapons to respawn points. There are save film features, that is a replay system and a way to record without Capture Card and the ability to upload screenshots on your Xbox 360 and bring it to Bungie.net from wallpapers to glitches.
And also, they have "Equipments" used by the X button and this would remind you a lot from real time strategy games like the Bubble Shield is to the Defiler's Swarm but that's only one example. They have more weapons, and "support" weapons (Which was taken from FarCry) that allows the player to detach turrets, use a flamethrower and such. The "New" weapons and vehicles are more like "Pre-covenant". Plus Bungie is trying to keep everything balanced out."
Did you read the rest? No, it only seems like you read the last few lines. Graphics are gorgous but it isn't the best.
None.
Forget it, I've reread your post like six times and still don't get it.
None.
Who's gonna get the Halo 3 xbox 360 limited edition?
Personally it looks cool, but the 13gb (acutal usage) hd is a downer compared to the 111gb hd.
PS: first new post in the new staredit.net site! =)

Just so you guys know, Bungie has admitted they f**ked up on Halo 2, and didn't have enough time to 'polish' the game up at the end. They said it wasn't as good as they wanted it to be. They're going to do the best they can to make Halo 3 much much better.
Here's the article It's still amazing how Halo 2 still manage perfect ratings. Hell, Halo 2 would've had 9.7 like Combat Evolved from GameSpot if it weren't for the bad ending.

Because society (and the big "review" boards) is full of followers; therefore, everyone has to use the opinion of someone else.
That's my opinion though..
But I've played first person shooters that are 200,000 better than Halo 2 (even though I like Halo 2 a lot)
For example: Quake 4 kicks Halo 2's ass
Doom 3
Theif (Old school mofos
)
Quake 1-3 Arena
Unreal Tournament 1-3
All of those (in my opinion) are way better than Halo 2..
Halo 2 for the computer = Blows.
The only thing the Halo series has going for it, is the console aspect..
None.
its overrated but i entered a tournament 2 days after it get the game and the halo3 360 i think its overrated but what can you say it the best selling game for 2 games now
None.
Everything is overrated these days.... just roll with the flow.....
None.
Does anyone know if the xbox 360 halo 3 limited edition console has the 65mm cpu?
None.
I'll be getting Halo 3 the day it comes out, but all these Halo 3 commercials are getting bloody ridiculous. It is a tad overrated, but it's still going to kick some serious ass.
None.
I'm guessing nobody knows if it has the 65mm cpu....
None.
The 'leaked' intro for Halo 3 was epic, as if it was from a movie theatre. You can only call it a good intro if you beated both Halo 1 and 2 otherwise you wouldn't understand it. And I heard the 'leaked' ending was pretty epic, even though it's one of the third endings.
http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&link=h3savedfilmsForge is EPIC, sure it isn't a map
maker but damn you have unlimited possibilities even if there are limits to each map. Watch the videos in the link I posted up, the videos are set up with "WMV" written on it.

You're right, forge is epic. Think Garry's Mod except slightly dumbed down and specifically for Halo. According to Frankie, when they first started testing it, their testers went into it immediately playing explosive barrel Jenga.

Lol Halo 3 will hit my house so hard...dad loves MP so I expect him to have pulled a few strings and reserved a copy...and picked up the third controller
BTW: I think Halo3 is running off Halo2 engine, on 360 Halo2 looks so cool...just about as good as halo3 graphix

If it is the engine a few major modifications have been made to make it "feel" more like Halo 1. In Halo 2 it always felt like you were sliding around on a sheet of ice and beat downs were not nearly as satisfying. This has apparently been remedied for Halo 3.
Halo 3 was never going to look as good as Gears of War. Gears of War takes place in small, enclosed corridors with very few enemies. Halo 3 takes place in massive outdoor environments with dozens of enemies fighting each other at once.
