Strafe Arena 2The objective is simple, kill all your enemies with a dagger, a gun, or a C4 (bomb). Be the last one(s) standing. This is a remade version of
Strafe Arena. The old version is bugged and far more inefficient, however.

Weapons in Detail (From the briefing)
Dagger: Hurts all enemies around your unit, and also destroys planted C4's. Cooldown is 10
Gun: Hurts all enemies in a path straight according to your unit's facing direction, and can be reflected. Cooldown is 16
C4: Use once to plant it behind you, then use it again to detonate it, hurting enemies and destroying nearby bombs. Cooldown for planting is 8, and you can detonate it any time after the initial planting cooldown. Detonating causes no cooldown.
Reflect: Face opposite from an enemy gunshot, and you will reflect a non-reflectable gunshot in the same path. Reflecting causes no cooldown, but you must move after reflecting to reflect again.

Strategy
- Against someone who approaches and you suspect he will dagger, run away and plant a bomb. He will probably run into it and die before reacting fast enough.
- Plant your C4's in the hills (the high ground sides) for extra vision and to kill the unsuspecting person who rushes in there.
- Plant and detonate a C4 in a hill before going into a it to make sure you won't die from any surprise C4's.
- Stand in a reflecting position in the hills to reflect surprisingly.
- Approaching someone who you think will gun frequently, never stay in his possible gun paths, approach him in his diagonals. You can try running into his paths and reflecting, but that takes some time to master.
- When trying to be defensive, face away from the enemy and only plant a bomb when he's close enough to dagger you.
- Always keep an eye out for your C4 because you can detonate it any time after the initial planting cooldown.
- More to come... (feel free to ask to add anything in here)
Version Changes
- 2.444 - Bomb hitting player and bomb bug
- 2.443 - Fixed reflect bug
- 2.442 - Reflecting no cooldown, but must move after
- 2.441 - Minor briefing bug
- 2.440 - Bombs no longer explode when players touch them
- 2.439 - Lives nonfunctional glitch; fixed lower-player bias bug
- 2.438 - Fixed observer incrementing lives
- 2.437 - Invinc potential glitch
- 2.436 - Larger edge
- 2.435 - Fixed an anticamping trigger where a bomb displaced spawning units and did not get removed. Fingers crossed that I fixed it, the scenario is pretty hard to replicate.
Simple enough right? I encourage everyone to at least give it a try, I think it is a very great map when played competitively.
It uses
pixel-perfect direction detection as well as unbias towards lower player numbers (if p1 and p4 dagger each other at the same time, they will both receive damage), so it is unimprovable in terms of system efficiency/fairness (except for mobile grid slowdowns/offset glitches, however the step to location grids is a huge one).
I have been told by people that the map title isn't too great, let me know what you think. I'd love any feedback of any sort, comments, criticism, suggestions, and also any bugs/glitches you find.
Enjoy.

I loved the last version and I just played this with my brother. The improvement has been great, but subtle. Just 1v1 didn't make it too obvious the switch to location grids, but great job on this map.

Thanks! I'm afraid you took me wrong about location grids though, I didn't use them, I stuck with mobiles. Most of the major (imo) improvements are unnoticeable to the normal player, but do make it outstandingly better than the first version.
That, and of course, ability to kill C4's and reflect

Played another couple rounds with my brother. Reflect is hard to use properly, but effective and surprising when well-executed. I love hearing him go "the fuck?" when I reflect his shot back out of the high snow.

Haha this is a freaking addicting game
. I was playing on West with some guy :0. 1v1 and even though he owned me it was freaking fun
. The dagger is the best move ever >:].

Pretty impressive map. I think I'll play it sometime.

Thank you, I would recommend that you play it because the triggers/systems themselves aren't as impressive as the actual gameplay, which I'm stressing is really great about this map. How actual real time thinking and skills and "mindgames" are potentially a big part of this map, when played competitively, not to mention the attractive simplicity.
Or you can think the total opposite, which I'm getting so often(in battle.net). Guess it's just a different taste in maps/genres (and retards who can't follow a sentence of instructions, obviously not directed towards anyone who it doesn't apply to).

After a couple more rounds, I found that moving the zerglings to use your spells was pretty annoying because sometimes I'd shoot twice instead of shooting once and moving my guy. Maybe swap it back to the old stargate system. If you are using scmdraft, I think there was a way to make instant build times (not set it to 1; it was like 8000-something that made it build even faster).
None.
That trick still causes a crash, and I'm iffy about the stargate system. Perhaps I can include both in a later version, but really the system is fine as it is. Just gotta get used to pressing the weapon hotkey, right click, unit hotkey, right click.

i didnt enjoy this map that much. i think maybe it is the terrain. just...bored me i guess. maybe some bomberman type terrain would suit me better.
None.
Well, thanks for being honest, I appreciate that the most. The terrain is supposed to be the least considered aspect of the map, and I admit myself it has some pretty bad terrain (and by no means are the weapons' appearance fancy either). The focus is supposed to be, to say again, gameplay, mindgames. The only players that I observe truly enjoy the map are the ones who recognize the strategy and play competitively.

well thanks for accepting my opinion. I will salute the triggering in the map because i've not seen stuff like that before. Kudos there brudda!
