Moose, if you do end up changing the capture zones, a message "You blocked capture." is pretty much REQUIRED.

Honestly, it probably should have been in there from the start, why give an advantage to people who know how to unprotect something in a map editor or require people to fail a dozen times before they learn it?

Also, your help in paring helped me out a lot last time. Now I'm not asking for a concrete promise that you can't bail on, but if you happen to be available that saturday morning, would you help run this?

Of course.
I have a stealthbot...
It's possible to make the bot ban anyone who speaks in the channel, except the ones who are safelisted.. Tho this may cause some people to.. not understand... if I add all the team captains onto the safelist, then only team captains can be in the channel.... That'd help organize things a lot...

Also, it'd be good if the matchups are done before the tournament... and that people must post replay on SEN instead of shouting "I WON I WON HOLY CRAP" everywhere... .. Team captains should take this responsibility (as they should have SEN account)...

Anyone have any other ideas??
Also, who won last tourny? champ team or what? :\ :\ .. Whoever won should get their name on the Hall of Fame for the version that will be played in the next tourny.

I think using the mission briefings for community promotion is the way to go, but moose would rather keep his briefings the same way sc map briefings have always been done :(

No one reads the briefings, but maybe if what was stuck into them waste the same old predictable "this is a game, try to win it, I made this map" The only thing that mission briefings some times get right is the change log.

CAFG if you are going to be in the tournament, along with Moose, wouldn't you need more people to help keep things organized? Like how about people who get eliminated early in the tournament?

Speaking of getting eliminated, I thought I might mention a kind of bracket system that's used at the Super Smash Bros. Brawl tournaments that I attend every two weeks.
Here's how it works:

First and foremost, everybody signs up for the tournament as normal. The brackets for the first round are organized as normal (This works with any number of players, whether it be 1v1, 2v2, etc.)

When you normally look at a tournament bracket system, it looks something like this (but bigger)

P1-------\
````````------------\
P2-------/`````````\
``````````````````-------- Winner
P3-------\`````````/
````````------------/
P4-------/
But, in the Brawl tournys I go to, the bracket system looks like this.
<<<<<<<<<Loser's Bracket --------- Winner's Bracket>>>>>>>>>
`````````````----------P1L------\
````````````/```````````````------------\``````````-------\
```````````/P1W````P2W-----/``````P2L\````````/```P3L\
A---------------```````````````````````````----------/`````````--------- Winner = P1
```````````\P4L`````P3W-----\``````P3W/```````````P1W/
````````````\```````````````-------------/`````````A-------/
`````````````----------P4L------/
Now, how this works, is that there are TWO brackets. A Winner's Bracket and a Loser's Bracket. If you lose a game, you are not necessarily out of the tournament, but, you get a second chance. You are put into the Loser's Bracket. Take for example, how Player 1 lost to Player 2 in the first round. He was put into the Loser's Bracket, to face Player 4, who had also lost the first round. Since Player 1 beat Player 4, he got put into the A slot, which means he was the winner of the Loser's Bracket.
HE HAS NOT WON THE TOURNAMENT YET,
He has simply qualified for the final match. It's kind of simple. The winner of the Loser's Bracket faces the winner of the Winner's Bracket, for the championship title.
This means, that if you lose against a player who ends up winning the Winner's bracket, and you end up winning the Loser's Bracket, you will get to face that player again for a chance to get your revenge, and win the tournament.
I'm not sure if you already know about this bracket system, but I thought I'd just tell you anyway :lol:
*Note* Generally how it works, is if you lose BEFORE the Semi-Finals, you get put into the Loser's Bracket. But it really depends on how many people are attending.
If you have any questions about this bracket system feel free to ask :cheers:
In addition to that system, many tournament organizers require the winner of the loser bracket to defeat the winner of the winner bracket twice in a row to steal the title. Unfortunately, the fact that this game takes quite a bit of time to play might make that impractical.
Just an FYI: CAFG has been suspended for two weeks. Hopefully for you guys, he finds a replacement.
Lol. I haven't seen anything that I've found objectionable in a long while and somehow people keep getting banned. Mods are really just starting to be a nuisance right now. I can run it if I'm around that day, I'll know sometime the week of. Either way I'll set up the brackets ahead of time so we don't have any of the random matching crap from last tournament and if I can't show someone else can run with them.
Olimar, that's just called a double elimination bracket. It's pretty simple to run but takes twice the number of matches, which kind of makes it impractical unless we want this to be an all day tournament. That might work well though for filtering in people who show up late: you just get thrown into the loser's bracket, as a disadvantage.
I can throw a .jpg up with the brackets after we get a decent number of people, but I definitely don't want to go over 16 teams if we do double elimination... we had 20 teams last time but I think a few were no shows and a few joined very late.
Basically something like this is pretty straightforward (Just pretend it's two of them connected for a 16-team):
EDIT: I was bored. =p
From there you can do a lot of different things, some tournaments declare 1st-4th place just from the winner's and loser's finals. Or you can have the winners of the two brackets face each other, or most commonly the winner of the loser's finals and the loser of the winner's finals face in order to determine who gets to challenge for the championship.
That does not mean nothing is happening. CAFG's flaming and bullying should have gotten him in a trouble a long time ago. The only reason I didn't do it earlier was because of the last tournament. (which means, of course, that you can fault me for not jumping on this right when tournament #4 ended.) It has to catch up with him sometime and he has the highest severity of all non-banned members. (And did before this suspension, as well.)
If you're not seeing it, moderation is doing a good job.
That would be valid if I wasn't way more active than any moderators. =p
Do we have a way to lose severity, or is this hidden score merely a ticking time bomb depending on how long we've been here?
EDIT: Bleh, toss this to null or something before I gain severity.
We live in a society.
The current plan is to drop a point every 20 days. And by current, I mean I came up with it about two months ago and never got around to implementing it. I'll try to put in the updates this weekend.
But yeah, you realized this is off-topic. :P
I think I'll play in this one. I'm starting to think powerling can actually be competitive.
Ive already posted in the m8 thread why l2 works more then it should for ling.
If you play, gotta have someone full on to keep tourney in check, unless tourney is small. Or it just wont work.
I'm not entirely sure what EST is compared to SeST (StarEdit Standard Time), but I can probably show up
Put me down on the free player roster. If anybody needs an extra teammate, just ask.
ᴄʜᴇᴇsᴇ ɪᴛ!
My apologies, I didn't check the date well enough. I will be taking a day trip to Virginia on the 21st. I'll have to rescind my acceptance into the team.
I'm also not sure what the state of this tournament will be in with CAFG suspended.
technically CAFG should still be able to make this as he's suspended for 2 weeks..
I actually can't help as I realized 1 pm at EST = 10 am at my time.... lawls good luck waking me up at that time..
Plus, I have volunteer at 11:30-1:30..... So, one of you guys can probably step up and help CAFG out...
well, when was cafg suspended?
if 2 weeks means 14 days, then he wouldve had to been banned before the 7th to still make the tourney
